@EnforcerNo0 @BootyPootiePoo @mrpyo1 Just say life is worthless to live if anything you said is a waste of time and investment.
English

I mean playing the guitar is a waste of time. I say this as someone who plays it themselves.
It doesn’t earn you money if you don’t do it professionally nor does help your career.
In all seriousness though, which hobby *does* further your standing in life? Getting laid is one thing but does *that* helps you accomplish stuff?
I had pretty wild teenage years and partied and all that good stuff but even then I chose every second Saturday or so to stay at home and play games with my homies man. Because I had more fun there being myself than dancing performatively with some random girl while explicitly not having any fun.
And yes I sometimes think that I could’ve done more but also often times think for what?
I don’t think I’d change that part of my life.
Games aren’t just call of duty, similar to other art forms, you can glean and gain meaning from it. That’s worth it by itself but I also made some pretty long lasting friendships out of it. Even in RL.
English

@mrpyo1 I mean. It is a waste of time. I say this as a lover of games.
I’d probably have more accomplishments in life if I hadn’t spent so much time playing games…
Collecting game achievements isn’t the same kind of gratification you’d get from something like learning an instrument.
English

Manga are just Comics, Light novels are printed novels (as in usually on paper) that do feature a handful of illustrations and are aimed at a younger audience but not kids, the best western analogue would be young adult novels with few illustrations interspersed.
Visual Novels are -like games- computer programs that tell a story through textboxes with character sprites/illustrations, background images to establish the surrounding area and as a backdrop as well as CGs (pictures) that illustrate and underline specific scenes. They are closer to Theater Plays than regular books in their execution and lend themselves well to be used to tell a character driven story.
English

@LucyPyre_ okay so i need this explained to me because i cant make sense of it. what is the difference between a visual novel and a manga/comic and say a light novel as well. i never understood what makes them all fit into each category.
English

@NextGenNero Cyberpunk is a 6 year old game running on low settings.
Not to knock the switch 2 because the performance is good but we really should temper our expectations here. I don’t think that GTA6 will run on the SW2 as it’s essentially a beefed up last gen console powerwise
English

After spending time with the S2, playing CP2077 and seeing how RE9 runs.. I’m 100% confident rockstar can and will get GTA6 on the switch 2

Internet is buzzing that GTA 6 is coming to Switch 2!

@SeanOwe60614333 @Helldivers_NOW Pretty big talk for a squid that’s getting blown back to hell by a 1920s Warship
English

@VanishedOmens This is insane
Goes to show how inattentive I am since I never noticed it being an option.
I think I’ll replay it now thanks for sharing man
English

@EnforcerNo0 Oh yeah! There totally was! You could play the entire game in 2D or 3D, and could hot swap at any time at the cathedrals if I recall correctly.
Can either play it as a modern game, or a SNES era game

English

Highkey wish more devs would do the 2D & 3D playthrough modes in more #JRPGs like #DragonQuest XI did.
I mean. It takes more time…but it’s such a great feature & gives great replayability to see the adventure in different lights.

English

@EnforcerNo0 so much more could’ve been done with his story it makes me sad
English

@serenade_sun @JJunkWarrior Never said that, you might want to read my statement again.
I said *one* of the smoothest.
You can’t tell me that Lara Croft controls better than an AC relative to the games context and gameplay.
English

@EnforcerNo0 @JJunkWarrior Suggesting Armored Core might be smoother to control than Spyro is certainly a choice
English

This.
I’ve often been trapped by huge swaths of bot reinforcements with my figurative pants down. Both primary and secondary empty and needing time to reload I don’t have, support weapon unable to be used due to either being leveler or recoilless.
If I have thermites equipped I instinctively throw them only to be reminded of how little use they actually have besides destroying objectives and spawners.
The new uber-Nades do that too but can actually clean house as well if the need arises. I happily trade in the roughly 900 damage a thermite has over the uber-Nades for instant deployment and large AOE.
English

@EnforcerNo0 @Helldivers_NOW Every time I bring the Thermite I honestly feel strangely helpless. It obviously has it's valid role, but it only does one thing & rarely gets the kill before an ally just does it anyway. Feels like a crutch for un-cooperative players that denies you more valuable crowd control.
English

@ChefandArbistor Halo was so heavily inspired by Starship Troopers and Aliens that you could ALMOST call it plagiarism lol (half jokingly ofc) and these properties are pretty dark and gritty too
English

@the_sw15 @kalaelizabeth Just another mass effect? I don’t think there has ever been a series like Me ever since, not even itself.
English

@kalaelizabeth I just hope the devs don’t feel the pressure to be just another Mass Effect, cause that’s all everyone is talking about with this game.
English

@kalaelizabeth I really hope it’s going to be the next Mass Effect but it has that look that I can’t put into words what exactly it is -it just feels ever so slightly off visually- that I am not entirely hopeful.
English

Yes, objectively good games.
Not every game needs to run the now standard third person action control scheme and *all* of these titles besides For Answer released *before* Gears of War standardized third person controls.
I personally think that AC1 might be one of the smoothest to control third person games on PS1 for example.
Also talking about AC1, while it did feature a debt system, it was counteracted by consecutive and later on gamebreaking bugs if you get reset often enough absolutely lessening the learning curve.
Talking about the learning curve, aren’t their later titles like DS praised to all heavens about how great they are because of their steep learning curve?
I am the first to admit that from soft has made mostly shit games but Armored Core might outshine even the DS games
English

While I haven’t seen the video in question and do not really care about DS either way, I have to agree.
The current day discourse surrounding Dead Space 3, Mass Effect 3 and FF13 is quite literally *just* YouTuber opinions regurgitated ad nauseam and likely will be for all eternity.
You can spot it immediately too. People will say „FF13s gameplay is just laying the controller down / smashing a“ or „Dead Space 3 is a straight up shooter against human enemies and no claustrophobic spaces“ or „Mass Effect 3 sucks and has little to do with the rest of the series“ when every point of criticisms is either taken care of after the first 2h or has been patched and made better since its release.
DS3 and FF13 for example get the special treatment of having annual videos being made off of them „Is FF13 still bad in 2026 (yes it is)“. Look it up. These sorts of videos get made YEARLY.
I really hate this trend, not regarding these games specifically but in general.
English

Been trying to tell people this non stop, but on release people just took skillup's shit at face value. I really wish more people made up their own minds instead of just parroting what a YouTuber says about a game.

Death Stranding 2 definitely has the same magic as the first game, it's everything a sequel should be so far.
