I was hesitant in posting this shitty memory, but maybe this will help someone. Never did I think this day would drastically change my life forever. It’s when I was illegally kneed to head in my first title opportunity against Petr Yan. Til this day, many still think I put on the acting job of a lifetime. Watching the replay, I could understand why they think that. I took a lot of punishment in that fight searching for a miracle opening to get another TD and finish the fight. In all my UFC fights, I’ve never performed that awful…even in my losses. I refused to believe I didn’t belong with the elite fighters at Bantamweight. - The illegal knee heard around the world…The stupid ego in me would’ve taken the rest of my timeout and continued fighting to show “my warrior spirit” lol. Fortunately, the ref and doctor stopped the fight and saved me from myself, and my ego to continue fighting. I get back to my house concussed and throwing up, with maybe 30 friends, family, and teammates there to see me, and tried to cheer me up that I will be back better than ever. This is the video that a friend recorded where ppl decided to say I was partying. Crazy world we live in where fake stories can grow legs and ppl repeat them as gospel. Shortly after this fight, I had to get a C6-C7 disc replacement in my neck. This night changed my life forever. I wasn’t proud to win this way, but I’m very proud of winning the rematch and becoming the most winningest bantamweight in UFC history. Even if ppl lie, just remember you have a say your own future 💯
