The Council of Ministers approved a regulation that defines the structure, duties & responsibilities of RRS. The approval came true after a rigorous team work. It's a big leap forward in the history of the org, advancing its power to coordinate the 🇪🇹 refugee operation. Kudos!

Thank you @DanielBekele and @EthioHRC for the visit yesterday. We loved the advices you shared with our team and your support means a lot for Teki 💚🙏🏾 Disability rights are human rights ✊🏾🇪🇹🤟🏾

IOM was privileged to join the Consultative Forum on Internally Displaced Persons in 🇪🇹 hosted by @EthioHRC, @CEHRO & @ReDSS_HoA. We're sharing our experiences to address durable solutions for IDPs in Somali & Oromia regions from ongoing projects supported by partners.

Glad to be back in Ethiopia — a major refugee hosting country and one where we work with government and partners in tackling displacement and other consequences of conflict and climate change. I am also here to highlight the plight of refugees from neighbouring, war-torn Sudan.

.@EthioHRC grateful for the warm welcome & exchange with @chrgovph on reparation for victims of human rights violations and promotion & protection of #IDPs and #migrants workers’ rights. #humanrightsforall #Ganhri1

.@EthioHRC is indeed pleased to receive @CNIDH_Bdi to share its experience in the promotion and protection of IDPs, institutional reform & capacity building, regional and international engagements, and many more.

#Ethiopia: Refugee camps failing as a safety net against hunger, homelessness and ill-health A new study by the International Institute for Environment and Development (#IIED) has found that refugees living in camps in Ethiopia, #Kenya, and #Jordan are experiencing concerning levels of hunger, limited access to healthcare, and instances of homelessness. Despite being prioritized for funding by the UN and other agencies, the paper found that 53% of refugees in Ethiopia's #Aysaita camp and 60% of refugees in Kenya's #Dadaab camp reported not having enough to eat in the week before. The quality of shelter in the camps was also a concern, with many residents reporting homelessness. The study also dispelled myths about the way the international humanitarian system responds to refugees, revealing that the overwhelming majority of refugees surveyed said the opportunities for a dignified and prosperous life were better in cities than in refugee camps. The study suggests that if the resources expended on constructing camps were instead used to improve infrastructure and support in cities, this could provide enormous benefits for both refugees and the communities receiving them. iied.org/refugee-camps-…

#Ethiopia grants #education opportunities for 168,000 #Refugees The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with humanitarian and development organizations, has provided education opportunities for 168, 269 refugee students across the country. The students have been enrolled in 65 pre-primary, 53 primary and 11 secondary schools, and upon completing 12th grade, students who scored entrance marks will be allowed to join universities, according to the Ethiopian Press Agency. The ministry said the refugee students are attending schools near their camps with students from the host community whereas, pupils from the host community also attend schools built for refugees, which created an opportunity for them to experience language and cultural exchange, as well as foster solidarity. Ethiopia is home to an estimated 927, 300 refugees most of whom are from Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and a few from other countries. press.et/?p=114423 Photo: UNICEF
