My Experience with the DSS @OfficialDSSNG (Department of State Services) -PART ONE I want to clearly state that this is my personal experience and account. On the night of April 30th, after days of being blindfolded and held by some unidentified men who initially claimed to be from the DSS — but whom I later discovered were not DSS officials — I was eventually taken to a DSS facility. At the time, I was still blindfolded and handcuffed. After arriving at the facility, I heard someone instruct that my blindfold should not be removed until we were inside. Shortly after, the blindfold was removed, and for the first time in days, I was able to see properly again. My vision was initially unclear but gradually improved. The officer who received me spoke calmly and assured me that I was safe. He asked if I knew where I was, and I replied yes because I could see the DSS logo on the wall. He noticed I was shaking and visibly traumatized, and he tried to calm me down. At that point, I was extremely scared and confused because I still did not fully understand my situation or why I had been taken in the first place. That same night, I was given tea and bread — the first proper meal I had eaten in days. I was also taken to the medical unit where my blood pressure and general health condition were checked to ensure I was medically stable. Afterwards, I was taken to a room with other detainees and provided with a bed and duvet. For the first time in days, I was able to sleep comfortably. The following morning, the investigation team began questioning me. Because the matter is still before the court, I will not go into details about the investigation itself. However, based on my personal experience, the DSS officials I interacted with treated me professionally and respectfully throughout my stay. Nobody shouted at me, physically assaulted me, or used force against me during the period I spent there. They also ensured that I had food and basic care, and I was even asked if there were specific meals I preferred during the process. I also observed that officials handling my case remained active on the matter, including during weekends and public holidays. From my own experience, I can say that the DSS demonstrated professionalism in the way they handled me. At the same time, no institution is perfect, and like every agency, there are areas where improvements can still be made — particularly regarding the speed of investigations and certain administrative processes. Again, this is strictly my personal experience and should be understood as such.

One day my dad asked me to squat and he did the same, he then asked me to try and pull him up, I couldn’t, then he said stand up and try again, this time I could easily pull him up. Then he said to me “if you never stand well no try raise person up or else both of una go fall”

a founder-friend told me his round was looking great. friends, advisors, ecosystem people saying "love what you're building, let me know when you raise" he found out 4 months later that "let me know when you raise" almost never converts to a wire. warm support in 2026 correlates weakly with actual checks. surfacing real intent means asking for the amount and the timeline and the specific next step on the investor's end. anything short of that is good vibes that don't fund payroll.

I have a friend who used to skip lectures during our university days to join smugglers driving cars across the border into Nigeria, bypassing customs checkpoints on the way to Ado Ekiti. He would often narrate how customs officers sometimes opened f!re on them. He came close to d£ath several times, yet somehow survived every encounter. After graduation, we all went our separate ways. He returned to his hometown in Ife-Wara, Osun where he ventured into charcoal production. Many nights were spent deep in the bush burning wood to produce charcoal. During that period, he also had another near-death experience after being bitten by a snake, but he survived again. Shortly after recovering, his visa to the United States was approved, and he relocated there to hustle with determination and resilience. One day, he showed a small act of kindness to a white man who worked in one of the top government ministries in Arizona. The man gave him his card and told him to call on the 15th day of the next three months. When he finally called, the man asked what kind of help he needed. He assisted him in obtaining a license permit that allowed him to ship cars from the U.S. to Nigeria without hassles, and he did it without collecting a dime. Today, he competes with companies like Coscharis Motors as one of the biggest car importers into Nigeria. Imagine someone who once spent nights dodging bullets while smuggling cars from Cotonou to Ado Ekiti just to pay school fees now flying business class from the U.S. to different countries around the world. When he visited Nigeria and came to my place, he narrated how thousands of dollars flow into his account without him even keeping track of where some payments came from. That is how drastically life can change. Just keep moving. A moving man will always meet his luck. Tough seasons are not permanent, and sometimes one opportunity, one relationship, or one act of kindness can completely transform a person’s life trajectory.

I'll also say this as someone who grew up on the nice side of the barbed wire fences and high gates in the very nice part of town where the Nigerian 0.1% live - learn to touch grass and worry about yourself because rich people really do not care about you. Like, at all. The Nigerian rich don't even like each other. They barely tolerate one another and make practical alliances to preserve wealth and influence. And now that the economy is too small to support all the children of the Nigerian 0.1%, nearly everyone I grew up with in the nice, leafy part of town now lives in Toronto or London or wherever. You, Mr N250k/month Union Bank contract staff are not part of rich people's thinking at all. At. All. The rich have no plans for you. They have no plans to create opportunities for you. They have no plans to fix the things they broke on their way to building that N1bn townhouse in Parkview Estate. They have no plans to contribute towards making society better. If Satan came from Hell with a tail and horns growing out of his head and he ran for political office, the rich would all go make deals with him - because in the world of the rich, the only thing that matters is their own interests, and making sure that they never, EVER have to live like you or next to you. So all this simping and vicarious fawning over wealth and fame that you people do everyday is the most redundant thing in the world - the rich have no intention of expanding their circle to let you in, and they have no intention of enabling the conditions for you to create your own independent circle of wealth. The only thing the rich need from you is to be poor and obedient, so that your labour can be cheap, plentiful and replaceable. Statistically as a Nigerian, you will NEVER be rich or close to it. You will NEVER live in Maitama. 99.99% of Nigerians who have existed since 1960 have prayed and fantasised about becoming rich, and 99.99% of those prayers and fantasies never came true. That's just math. You will never be a rich and famous celebrity. You will never be a successful content creator. You will never make millions shilling crypto, trading Forex, sports betting, or whatever the fuck is the latest quick wealth fantasy in town. It's just not going to happen. That being the case, a much more constructive use of your time would be to fight for the material elevation of what you actually have, where you actually have it. Instead of daydreaming about the N300m house in Lekki that 3 generations of your family cannot buy, get involved in a local effort to give your own immediate neighbourhood a facelift, or a political campaign to pressure the state to build high quality social housing. If you hate being harassed without consequence online, instead of vicariously enjoying how a celebrity has used their wealth and influence to jail someone for making a horrid tweet, fight for a judiciary and legal system that is transparent and accessible to all, so that a singer living in the UK on a global talent visa doesn't get to have more access to your Nigerian justice system than you who lives in Nigeria 24/7. Instead of building your mental architecture around the false idea of being a "temporarily embarrassed millionaire" who will someday take your rightful place on Banana Island, touch grass tonight and accept that it will never happen, and what you need to do instead is fight for where you are to become a better, more liveable place that you no longer wish to escape from. Stop cosplaying as rich folk. Stop cooing and fawning over rich folk. Stop daydreaming about someday "blowing up" and buying a house next to Burna Boy. Rich people have no intention of sharing their world with you. Free yourself from the tyranny of living vicariously through people who don't care that you exist. Them no really send any part of your papa at all.

Build For Tomorrow (community + grants) Four things worth knowing: 1. small program acceptance rates are higher than YC, not because they're easier, because the funnel is smaller. apply to 5-7, not 1 2. brand premium on YC is real but not infinite. Arc + Speedrun + HF0 carry signal too 3. "$X for Y%" is the only number that matters. uncapped MFNs are not free money, they dilute you on the next round 4. avoid any list still quoting Techstars at $120k, ODX as active, HF0 at $100k, or Founder Institute as "$10k for 4%". all wrong Shared with you those where I am going to apply with my ideas and products Terms shift annually. Verify on each program's site before applying gl with successful raising
