A joint anti-smuggling operation has recovered a stolen luxury vehicle worth R2.2 million and led to the arrest of a 46-year-old suspect on the N1 near Makhado, Limpopo. Police, working with private security partners, intercepted a white Toyota Land Cruiser ZX that was allegedly being transported from Gauteng to be smuggled out of South Africa via the Beitbridge Port of Entry. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Benoni on 18 July. The suspect is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 July, on charges of possessing a suspected stolen vehicle and driving without a valid licence. Investigations are continuing.
