Canonical keeps making decisions like they’re building a corporate ecosystem instead of a Linux distro.
Ubuntu became popular because it made Linux simple without taking freedom away from users.
Now everything feels forced:
- Firefox through Snap
- Snap everywhere
- Ubuntu Pro ads
This is not the Ubuntu we loved anymore.
It was never just about Snaps. It’s about trust.
Many Linux users left Windows/macOS to escape this kind of ecosystem control.
Fedora honestly feels closer to the old Ubuntu spirit now.
Might finally be time to switch to fedora

This is what real progress in Linux gaming looks like: Proton-CachyOS 11 + latest update: Under the hood: • SteamRT4 base (new runtime shift) • ntsync now default (better CPU sync, lower overhead) • updated DXVK / VKD3D / NVAPI • reduced patch bloat (cleaner, more stable) Fixes: • Wayland + Winetricks GUI working again • EAC fixes + newer titles supported • Assassin’s Creed Shadows compatibility • runtime missing deps patched What actually matters: • more games launch without tweaks • better performance consistency • fewer regressions vs older Proton builds Linux gaming isn’t catching up anymore. It’s stabilizing.

Everything's gone to shit and 50-400% more expensive than it was a year ago. If this was sold before september 2025 the RAM would cost only $60 or less
