@the_lemoe_ @marcievania I don't think a game needs a good story to be good, but most good games will pretty much always use elements of storytelling to help players understand objectives (saving peach in mario). They don't have to be the focus, but they are essential for establishing a games identity

Framed as a coordination issue, I think the problem becomes a lot more clear. It's easier to coordinate half of everyone than literally everyone. Of course, a lot of red pressers say they're happy to see blue pressers die, which I think cuts to the center of this.

You have two buttons. Red and blue. If 50% of people press blue, nobody dies. If anything less than 100% of people press red, some percentage of people will die. Which is easier to coordinate? getting 50+% to press one button, or getting literally everyone to press the other?

I feel like for it to be significantly selfish my vote has to actually impact others, but the possibility is slim. if we could organize a blue vote though itd be different

the most interesting thing about the blue button vs red button debate is how it reveals how many people believe the red button option is a purely “safe” option and not the explicitely violent option, and i think that frames the israel / palestine conversation fairly well
