@therisingtithes The thing that's always disturbed me most about this sort of discourse is that their solution for "we have nothing and are nothing" is never let's be something and have something--it's let's make everyone else miserable nothing too. Perverse.

I will say this: so much of the flattening of the 'male alienation' discourse is a tool of that alienation by design
many young men love to cling to the idea that class disillusionment & lack of socialisation is an experience they own because they can't imagine other people

This is simply untrue. Mariah may not have WANTED to pick a side, but Tommy absolutely forced her into whiteness to be the Caucasian answer to Whitney Houston. Her pivot to hip hop was that much more noteworthy and got so much press because she was a "white" pop princess.

You know what I love the most about Mariah Carey? She's one of the "BLACKEST" biracial superstars we've ever experienced. She is unapologetically Black and embraces it without hesitation. In her culture, lyrics, and little slick shit. 😂 Not once have I ever felt like she was hopping the fence or appealing to one specific side. She's always handle that aspect of her career and branding so well. She just drops hits and everybody enjoys them accordingly.

I'm on the jury for a thing this year and out of about 30 books, THREE are not by white people.

I have cancer surgery on Friday and the sweet nurse at the hospital, knowing I struggled with Spanish over the phone last week, actually translated some instructions into English when I went to pre-op today and walked me to the rooms I needed to visit.😭

Then when I try to speak to customer service about the 3 hour delay and baggage nonsense, I speak to an @AmericanAir chatbot twice and then a lovely lady with an excellent script but no real knowledge.
Air travel in the US is pretty poor overall but y'all are exasperating.
