No religion is served by hatred. No God is honored by violence. Using religious slogans as a cover for a brutal antisemitic stabbing attack is a desecration of religion itself. Thank you to the NYPD for conducting a thorough investigation and for appropriately charging the perpetrator with a hate crime.

My heart goes out to the victims of today’s vicious stabbing attack on the Upper West Side. I’m keeping them and their loved ones in my prayers and am closely following the NYPD’s investigation as more information becomes available.

This isn’t a college protest. This is the City of New York. Threatening to arrest the democratically elected leader of one of America’s closest allies during U.N. General Assembly week isn’t bold. It’s reckless. American diplomats, service members, and officials are stationed in dangerous places around the world. Irresponsible rhetoric like this doesn’t stay in New York. It can put Americans at greater risk abroad. Leadership means understanding that your words have consequences. Reckless political theater can have very real-world costs. I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister @netanyahu to New York City when he arrives in September.

Hey, @_charleslane. You reached out asking me for a comment on your story, and I gave you one: “Your story is bullshit.” I even told you to quote it in full. Instead, you wrote, “Adams denied an interview request.” If you’re going to ask someone for comment, you don’t get to pretend they didn’t respond just because you didn’t like the answer. That’s not journalism. That’s cherry-picking.

We’ve become so mean-spirited in politics that we’ve forgotten what the loss of a life means. Behind every public figure is a family that is grieving. In life, we can disagree. We can debate. We can fight over politics. But in death, we should be able to show respect for the family, and for a life that was lived. I hope we get back to that someday. And I hope that if God forbid something ever happens to you, my friend, people on both sides of the aisle will show you and your family that same respect. And by the way, I don’t recall ever saying I retired.

The Senate lost a giant today. Senator Lindsey Graham dedicated his life to serving this country. He was passionate, fearless in defending what he believed, and never stopped fighting for the people he represented. Whether you agreed with him or not, you respected his commitment to public service and his love for America. My prayers are with his sister Darline, his nieces, friends, the people of South Carolina, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. May he rest in peace.

Tomorrow, America celebrates its 250th birthday, and I’ve been reflecting on just how blessed we are to call this nation home. 🇺🇸 I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: there is no greater blessing than being an American. I grew up with very little, but this country gave me the opportunity to dream, to serve, and to build a life beyond anything I could have imagined. That’s the promise of America. I’m grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, for the brave men and women who have defended them, and for every New Yorker and every American who works each day to make this country even stronger. I love this nation with all my heart, and I always will. Happy early Independence Day, and may God continue to bless the United States of America.

Grabbing some wood at the College Point Home Depot to build a bookshelf. I finally have time for home projects again. Being mayor was a full-time job… and then some. Let’s just hope I don’t accidentally build a coffee table instead. Great service, too. I even had to prove to one of the employees that I still have my dance moves.
