On the back of my last post, I also want to be transparent about the profile of Twitch streamers and YouTubers we're currently scouting to add to our roster. Due to my team's capacity, overhead, and industry economics, we're mostly looking for creators that fit our style of content, and meet our size and location requirements (more below on that). We also do not tolerate toxic Andy's or any of the nonsense you see on your Twitter feed daily. I've declined to represent creators that would generate big revenue for us but don't fit our values. Enough said.
🎮RPGs, action/adventure, strategy, platformers, and similar titles are our highest performing areas. We're also interested in MMO creators, but they have to be pretty exceptional because of industry dynamics/sponsorship opportunities.
Variety streamers are our bread and butter and generally earn the most in this industry. So that's usually our focus and will be for the foreseeable future.
Variety YouTubers (do they exist??) are also a hot area for us. Or any YouTubers that align with the above posted genres. They do the best with our sponsors, and we want to be successful for creators, so we stay focused. There's nothing worse than onboarding a creator that you can't help get sponsors. We've done it in the past and won't do it anymore. Lessons learned.
🌎Regions: we're primarily focused on the US, Canada, UK, and Nordics.
We get a lot of emails/requests for representation from streamers that are below our viewership thresholds. While we'd love to expand the roster and accommodate them, it's unfeasible financially/operationally.
👇So without further ado, our targeted minimum metrics for signing new creators:
Twitch and/or YouTube focus (ideally both)
🟪Twitch CCV: 1K+
🟥YouTube Average Video Views (30-days): 100K+
The only exceptions we're making these days for the above is for talent that have a strong potential to meet and exceed our minimums. OR, importantly, POC or female creators that struggle to hit those minimums because of the inherent bias in the system. We have one of the most diverse rosters, both in gender and race/ethnicity, or nearly any other roster.
We obviously have creators on our roster that are below these thresholds, but they bring something extra or frankly, we just flat out love them.
To anyone that wants to work with us, but isn't at these levels yet, just know that we'd probably love to sign you, but we can't do enough for you at your current engagement levels on your platforms. And any agency that promises you something big below these thresholds is probably full of 💩. Don't sign with a crap agency just to have an agency. Talent agencies don't grow you, they amp up your discoverability with brands and revenue. Growth is your job. Our job is business deals and management support. If someone asks you to pay them monthly fees (not deal related commissions) to "rep you," huge red flag.
I've been incredibly hesitant to post these requirements for years, mostly because every agency fears creator backlash. The entitlement of certain smaller creators is out of control. But I'm a big kid, I can handle it lmao.
So there you go, my bravest post yet! And this is why I pay for Twitter Blue folks, so I can type walls of texts like a mad man. 💀 Elmo sucks though, doesn't deserve anyone's money.
