EPIC user tip, use autocorrect to make typing more efficient and expand abbreviations. Someone posted NAOE the other day, recently learned what that means.

I suspect this is the same look I will have as I begin my 23rd season….

@JasonMartinezMD @GAEscobarMD Ha! I saw “NAEO” in a note recently and had to ask what it meant. With epic you can add autocorrects so when you type naeo it will expand to full words

@GAEscobarMD “No acute events overnight.” Is another pet peeve of mine. Document what happened. Not what *didn’t* happen. Same as writing “seen and examined. There was no 5-million car pile up last night”

If this applies to you, PLEASE stop writing “No indication for ACUTE surgical intervention” There are no CHRONIC interventions, and you just have to say “No surgical intervention indicated”. WHO started this?!?!?

@GAEscobarMD Don’t even write that. Please write what the intervention is. Example: “no indication for cholecystectomy at this time”, “iliac stenting not indicated”. This slide is from my documentation talk from the @SAGES_Updates Fellows Career Development Course (gif of course)

@GAEscobarMD There are plenty of times that surgical intervention is indicated and should eventually take place, but just not during this hospital stay. We will get to that inguinal hernia eventually when the pneumonia is gone, for example.
