I'm trying to imagine the alternative history of WW2 if it looked like this war, and what the coverage might look like "It's January 11th, 1942, one month after Hitler declared war on the United States. Hitler, Goering, Bohrmann, and Himmler were all killed in an allied bombing attack on Hitler's headquarters, along with fifty other members of the German High Command. 95% of entire German navy is resting at the bottom of the North Sea. The Luftwaffe is no more. Allied aircraft achieved complete air superiority over Germany within 48 hours of the war's start. Still, many sophisticated commentators are saying that the Third Reich has the upper hand, because they have shut down travel through the Danish straits."

This list of new or increased taxes and fees does not include city of #SanDiego sewer rate increases and #BalboaPark parking fees that have already been approved or an expanded TOT travel tax and a 'Non-Primary Homes Tax' on track for the June ballot. Sales tax increases from #MTS, #SANDAG, the city of San Diego, and #Santee are expected between 2026 and 2036. There has also been discussion of a #SanMarcos property tax increase and new city of San Diego gross receipts tax (basically a business income tax) and property transfer tax. When properly implemented, managed competition (bidding out government services to city forces and private contractors) can achieve significant savings. "The idea behind managed competition is a good one. Competition can bring efficiency and innovation. Whether city employee teams or private contractors win competitions, the city can save millions of dollars while maintaining quality services." Managed competition worked before and it can work again.
