The ASAP4 family of genetically encoded voltage indicators from the @michaellinlab allows recording action potentials and sub-threshold activity with either 1- or 2-photon microscopy over extended periods of time. Read the paper here: nature.com/articles/s4159…

@MattNeuro Thanks very much! For in vivo SomArchon the power density is around 3-5W/mm2. To record at larger spatial scale I would therefore recommend a patterned illumination technique to reduce illumination. One option is DMD patterning. See here : cell.com/iscience/fullt…
