I have been at a loss over the past several days as to what to say about Howard Rosenthal. There is no doubt that my collaboration with Howard and @MrNOMINATE is the highlight of my intellectual life. Lasted over 30 years and continues to be the foundation of my research agenda

With a country so sharply divided you take your supporters where you can get them. When the issue is insurrection versus the democratic process, you don’t question your supporters’ moral clarity.

@DrHelenHYu Don’t know you but you have my full sympathy and hope for your safety and well-being. I hope that the police, working with the administration, can find and punish this former student.

This afternoon, a former student left a harassing 3:38 min voicemail, calling me a “fucking bitch” over 20 times and threatened members of my family. He also insulted my co-workers, my research (?), and oddly my running (evidently I’m not all that). Will be extra careful.

@Dr_Dzeguze @LilyMasonPhD If money were my goal, would have gone to law school (I was offered a nice position on graduation by a law firm that was a family friend). I endured years when there were no salary increases because of economic conditions. I do this because I enjoy it. Promotion is a reward.

@LilyMasonPhD Things I've been told (I'm NTT so not my issue): Money can matter (ours is a decent bump but not life changing). External validation/completion of socialized expectations seems to be a big part of it. Perceived prestige since standard is "national reputation" at a lot of places.

@nvalenti11 Great but when will there be a data set that includes party identification and ideology. They are blocked in this download.

Yet there were also people such as Aaron Wildavsky who read works by junior scholars (back then including me) and wrote/called them to tell them how much he admired their work.

So excited to announce I'll be joining @MaryWash this coming August as an Assistant Professor of Political Science. I'm joining an incredible faculty that gets to teach incredible students at @UMW_PSIA. I also get to return to the DC area, which is my home away from Kansas.

Does anyone know how to access CNN + on a TV set? I can’t find it on Verizon or Roku and CNN help is telling me just to log in (I have paid them) but they haven’t told me where I can do this. If people pay the they don’t seem to care if anyone actually can watch them.

The ACT Magistrates’ Court granted me a personal protection order this week. I won’t be divulging details, but people should be aware of the way the environment is changing for MPs. Never imagined this when I got into politics in 2010. #auspol

Only college grad in immediate family although my mother would have loved to go to college but it was the Depression and her younger brother was able to go to college without paying tuition.

I agree that informal writing is essential andI always mix statistical, theoretical, and historical analysis with stories designed to get readers interested. Better than spending $6k for this course is getting a copy of Zinnser, On Writing Well, and learning from it.

Harold was a great scholar and friend. I, among many others, am so sad.
