My problem is college football took over my heart in 2000 when I was 9, but this isn’t college football. It is pro football on college campuses. The game used to be fun, now it’s “Do you have a billionaire alum who gives a 💩 about you?”

Because the product is stale and everyone knows it. You’ve got the same four teams on loop, games that take five hours because of endless commercials, and a playoff system that’s basically a participation trophy for regional mid-tier schools. The "second most popular sport" is just a bubble of delusional fans clinging to a dying format. People have better things to do than watch an overrated blowout.

Just 15.8 million people watched the stellar Ole Miss-Miami final four playoff game. Why can’t college football, which is the second most popular sport in the country, build bigger audiences? Unlike other sports, the playoff audience doesn’t grow much:

Just 15.8 million viewers for Miami-Ole Miss. It was a great game, but this is a brutally awful number. College football is the only sport that posts lower final four playoff viewership than it does for regular season games. Must be addressed. Audience isn’t growing.
