My favourite fact about the video game Halo is that the guy who made it started researching Gregorian Chant for the music fell in love with it so much that he explored other parts of Catholicism and ended up converting. Halo is Catholic.

Hi Eric! Messaged you about some points in the article you brought up. Kalshi expressly prohibits people with material non-public information from trading on our markets, including any campaign staff. We also have full KYC (so traders are not anonymous, unlike offshore platforms) and employ a dedicated team that monitors and investigates all fraudulent activity. We also recently announced enforcement cases against people who have violated our rules, including a candidate in California who traded on his own campaign's market.

@VanniHashimoto I don't think it needs a solution, but let's also get rid of limits on how much an individual can contribute to a candidate

@ericwilson I mean is there a solution to this beyond “if you have a big platform, you lose free speech rights?”

The current state of campaign finance regulation makes no sense, in two stories: 1. A TikToker with 14 million followers worked for free for Talarico. 2. Wesley Hunt's team used X to circumvent coordination rules

The point is: the current state of campaign finance regulation doesn't make any sense and isn't keeping up with technology/media. Hopefully this gets fixed by SCOTUS soon.

Meanwhile, we have campaigns and super PACs engaged in absurd spy capers to share information that is of questionable value if it's being shared publicly.

Some questions for campaigners to consider about Kalshi, Polymarket, etc. - How will you handle reporter inquiries about prediction markets? - Are staff + consultants allowed/encouraged to trade? - Do donors monitor them? - Are they leading/lagging indicators?
