Today I turned 33. In a past life this would have caused me alarm. You see, before we started on this journey together, (when I was called Jeff, not Jihoz) I felt lost. All my life I felt like I was searching for a cause, a revolution even, to dedicate myself to. This was hard to find. So when I reflect back on life today, I feel grateful for our shared mission. The road has been dark. Cold. We’ve tasted the sweet nectar of victory and the frigid water of defeat. The last year has been challenging in some new ways but I see green shoots pushing through the frost. We’ve witnessed the rise of Ronin and the birth of the “Ronin Effect”. Axie has chugged along, stalwart and defiant in the face of those who call for its downfall and eventual demise. Classic is back. Evolution is here. The road ahead looms like a leviathan, imposing yet majestic due to the mission at its core: delivering economic freedom & property rights to all users of the internet, starting with gamers. Today, the outpouring of love you’ve shown me has been special. It’s a testament to the lives we’ve touched and the community we’ve built. Always together. I have many weaknesses. I can be vain and arrogant. Competitive to a fault. Thanks for your affection despite these things. I’ll get a little bit better each day. 1% as the saying goes. Step by step. Binance will list Ronin (RONIN) and open trading today at 13:30 (UTC). Binance is a key onramp into web3 and this listing will allow Ronin to grow even faster. Why did Binance list Ronin? • Ronin is the most used gaming chain and the 3rd most used blockchain. Period • Ronin is a distribution channel, with a battle-hardened community rabid to try Ronin games. Ronin is proving that it’s the dominant web3 gaming chain by catalyzing a massive increase in players for games migrating to/launching on Ronin. This was famously proven by @pixels_online migration from Polygon to Ronin. DAU went from 5,000 at the time of migration to over 180,000 today. Monthly active players is also at over 330,000. In this case, a picture of Pixels DAU really does say 180,000 words: The first platform to dominate distribution for a market can jump out to a huge advantage that is used to leapfrog competitors. Think of how Apple used content via the Ipod/Itunes/Imac connect to flank Microsoft and beat Sony at their own game. Artists were willing to endorse Itunes and upload their music for a lower cost because of the distribution and marketing power that Apple had. Tech is only important if it creates this distribution advantage. The strategy is to use gaming as an approachable portal into web3. Then we can introduce users to financial applications and more complex higher LTV applications. This is how the largest all-purpose chain will be created: content + social interactions as an onboarding portal. Content is king. We've built a hardcore community through axie and that's created a bootstrapping mechanism for other games + content to find an audience. P.S. some have been asking why Binance is using $RONIN as the ticker instead of $RON. First, there was already a romanion currency listed as RON. Second, as king of the gaming chains it's more respectful to address Ronin by its full name. For now, let's use both $RON and $RONIN when posting on social media for maximum coverage.
