@GeeBeeinGA @MAC_ARMY1 I think you are splitting hairs here.

This video is going around of a high school wrestling match that happened yesterday. One player showed clear poor sportsmanship… followed immediately by a pretty blatant cheap shot in response.
Did the bad behavior ‘earn’ it? Or is a cheap shot never justified no matter what? Team Blue, Team Orange, or are both punks?
Sports need passion but where’s the line? Thoughts? 👀

@mario4thenorth @NewWorldHominin @AndrewLawton Same thing for our elected officials that can't seem to answer a question to save their life.
It's infuriating that we have public committee sessions where our politicians are anything but transparent.
English

@NewWorldHominin @AndrewLawton The rule should be: if you take our money, you answer our questions.
No answers.
No money.
No problem.
English

I tried asking APTN what their involvement is in the CBC "prank show."
Their comms director accidentally sent me an internal email stating that they were going to ignore my inquiry because I'm just a lowly Canadian citizen and not a media outlet (not that they will give a sufficient answer to the media either.) I followed up and asked who I can contact then, and they just didn't respond.
It's actually crazy that these taxpayer-supported institutions think that they don't need to answer to anyone. They don't even think I deserve a modicum of an answer to my questions, even though they shouldn't be difficult to respond to.

@JohnAchterhof @DuttJason77196 @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Definitely helps, but still doesn't perform as well as Roman concrete in sea water, when you don't consider the compressive strength.
English

@Eric_M_Malinski @DuttJason77196 @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Modern concrete with reinforcing steel bars. 👌
English

Sneak peak of a small handful of the evidence from my forthcoming manuscript (summary coming to @palladiummag!) on how there's A LOT of quantitative evidence for the European Dark Ages.
There are so many more graphs than these ^^

English

@DuttJason77196 @JohnAchterhof @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Just keep in mind that the resilience you are talking about is developed over hundreds of years, whereas we are more impatient.
All things considered, modern concrete bests roman concrete far more often than it doesn't, and that's why we don't see it being used.
English

@Eric_M_Malinski @JohnAchterhof @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Roman concrete still far outperforms modern Portland cement based concrete in long-term durability, self-healing, and resilience to harsh environments like seawater.
English

@DuttJason77196 @JohnAchterhof @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Cut stone isn't better than modern concrete, which has about 3 times the compressive strength.
English

@Eric_M_Malinski @TrackGazette Moe Greene was never officially popped so his name shouldn't be scratched out
English

@greg_scott84 @AgentBlusky Just because a police officer can ask you to forgo your rights, doesn't mean they should.
That makes zero sense.
It would become, "what can I get away with," as opposed to "what is the appropriate thing to do within the law."
English

@AgentBlusky I'm only interested in objectivity. He wasn't being detained for recording anything. He's allowed to. The cop is allowed to ask him to turn it off. He's allowed to refuse.
English

@DuttJason77196 @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag No, roman concrete wouldn't have been able to create the Duomo in Florence either. The issue was the span, and not being able to secure it while under construction.
It wasn't finished because we "forgot" how to make roman concrete.
English

@Eric_M_Malinski @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag He was forced to, because they didn't know how to make the concrete anymore.
English

@DuttJason77196 @JohnAchterhof @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Cut stone is definitely stronger in compressive strength, when compared to "Roman" concrete. It's even stronger than modern concrete, which blows roman concrete out of the water.
I shouldn't have lumped brick or timber into that category, that was a mistake.
English

@Eric_M_Malinski @JohnAchterhof @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag More durable than Roman concrete? Now you're being obtuse.
English

@DuttJason77196 @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag The Duomo remained unfinished because no one knew how to construct a dome of that scale without enormous wooden supports. Brunelleschi solved the problem using innovative masonry engineering rather than Roman-style concrete techniques.
English

@Eric_M_Malinski @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag That is why the Duomo in Florence went unfinished for over a century. Until Brunelleschi figured out how to do it without concrete.
English

@JohnAchterhof @DuttJason77196 @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag The Byzantine Empire continued some Roman engineering traditions, while others moved to more durable materials like cut stone, brick, timber, and mortar-based masonry.
A reduction in the number of large-scale engineering projects occurred, but not because we forgot anything.
English

@Eric_M_Malinski @DuttJason77196 @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Not fake news. Rome had excellent concrete, but with the fall of the Western Roman empire large-scale use of concrete ceased over its former sphere for a thousand years as No Question says.

This woman at the Pierre Poilievre townhall called me a freak after I spoke, and then came to interrupt me as I was speaking with a BC MLA and others.
Like every defender of child abuse before her, she had nothing intelligent to say and ran away.
Thankfully, she was the only one out of a room of several hundred who had a problem with me.
The support was tremendous!
English

@TrackGazette Doping has been rampant in elite sprinting for decades.
Many of the top Olympic sprinters have been busted, Usain Bolt being the exception.
English

@DuttJason77196 @cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag Fake news. They used lime and volcanic ash to create a self healing concrete.
We've known for a very long time, in fact, it was recently confirmed by a scientist from MIT.
Before that, we had ancient texts that described the materials and process in detail.
English

@cremieuxrecueil @palladiummag That the recipe for concrete was lost for a thousand years should be tip number one.
English

@NeedMyNutsLickt @BDr6136 Please do, so it can fail.
English

@BDr6136 I need to start a organization for just comically untrained ‘fighters’
English

Watching untrained dudes do MMA is seriously so fun, bro tapped to a body triangle 😭💀🙏

@midaqih Porsche engines are run for a couple thousand simulated miles at the factory before being completed.
You think they make the engine and then give it to you without ANY testing or breakin?
English

Sara Saffari had NO IDEA why her BRAND NEW $300,000 Porsche 911 Turbo S had a check engine light, until Sam Frank found out she was hitting 130mph within the first 300 miles 🫣🏎
"How many miles are on it?"
"Probably like 300... 200."
"That's why there's a check engine light, it's not even passed the BREAK-IN PERIOD, which is like at 1,500 miles."
"My car doesn't have a break-in period."
"Every car does, it's over 1,000 miles for sure."
English
