As a general rule, young men should be warned against marrying divorced single mothers. This is also a false dichotomy, the logical fallacy that restricts a complex situation to only two extreme, mutually exclusive options, ignoring other valid alternatives.

Fun fact: I had our family do a “Seder” maybe 15 years ago. (I was going through a phase.) Felt nothing. Didn’t satisfy. A few years ago our church began observing the Lord’s Supper every week. Meaningful every time. Because our Lord instituted it and promised to be spiritually present in it. Why would we Christians return to types and shadows? “What is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews 8:13)

Being direct in a masculine way is actually a mercy. Don’t dance around it. Say what you think. Pull no punches. Be frank and friendly. Say it in love. Don’t qualify everything to death. Don’t make people read between the lines.

Years ago I had some baptist friends who invited us to a Sader meal. I had no idea what that was at the time, so mostly out of curiosity we went to check it out. When I saw their kids at the table, I asked, "Why are your kids participating?" "They are part of the covenant household. Naturally they would participate in a covenant meal." The same kids were not baptized and did not partake in the Lord's Supper. I found that interesting.
