@Laava_S @DataVizSociety One of those things about streaming data: it's never the same from one day to the next. You usually have a good idea of what's likely to be in there, but you need to be ready for anything. :)

@Laava_S @DataVizSociety Hi @Laava_S: I design data vis for our data products. We never know what the exact data will look like, so I use Illustrator to sketch out chart options and think through edge cases, and to support our UX prototypes. It's my primary tool for DV at work.

@JotaSolano I don't, but it's because I choose not to, and not because I shouldn't or don't think I deserve it. Seriously, by those rules, what percentage of doctorates are considered "valid" enough to use their title?

I have a new article out with Nightingale, journal of the Data Visualization Society, all about how audience affects your chart design choices: medium.com/nightingale/wh…

3 days of smart people figuring out how to put patients first in clinical trials: in terms of diversity, safety, treatment efficacy, longitudinal tracking, earlier detection, and lowering the burden (and increasing benefits) of participation. #MedidataNEXT

Exciting conversation about combining real world evidence with clinical trials data in this morning's #MedidataNEXT conference with Sastry Chilukuri from AcornAI and Amy Abernathy from the FDA.

Thank you @iamwill and @IAMJHUD for this powerful video. Hate has no place in the United States — and on November 3rd we will prove that.

@EricaGunn @SekaiFarai Thank you for capturing Sekai's opening from yesterday's final presentation @ #UXPABos20 1 / Such an amazing day of knowledge sharing, inspiration and community ... Sekai's calling bullshit on UX dropped a perfect bomb of provocation on the feel-goody-ness of the conference

@EricaGunn Thought that your talk today was super helpful for someone like me that is trying to learn how to create good data viz. I would love to have you expand on it. I would love to understand better which is the best chart to represent data.

@loususi I didn't include a "none", but I did include the basic charts in the first part of the survey (Twitter only allows 4 poll options total, so I had to hack it). Noted for future surveys, though. :)

@EricaGunn i wish you included a 'none of the above' in this survey i guess i just don't 'get' these, they seem rather too new for me to quite grasp at this point ... especially if there are 2 different kinds of rose diagrams ... i would think radial would be best for length, radial area

@jessikawelch A table is definitely easiest in terms of reading quantitative values, but a chart can often facilitate comparison. I find a combination of chart and table is usually most effective.

@EricaGunn None of the above. Too much work for the user. The data table is better than any of these, because it does not mislead, and it's more accessible via screen reader or keyboard controls. :)

@stlauria Not yet! Working on it; about halfway through the first draft. I draft the early content on my blog, and have also started publishing with the Data Vis Society's publication on Medium. Would love to know what you'd like to see. :) ericagunn.com/blog/ medium.com/nightingale
