I'm excited to announce that @AmcaInc has raised a $300M Series B at a >$1B valuation, led by @CaffeinatedCap with major support from @LightspeedVP, @a16z, @Lux_Capital, and others. We're on a mission to reconstitute a supply chain that has too often put profit over country.

@jmj you don’t have to share what you’re building in real time but you have to compound trust somehow. you can talk about the problem space/your POV, teammates you’ve brought on, what you built before, etc now more than ever kingmaking is real & perceived winners have the advantage

Building in Public was the playbook. Not anymore. If you're a founder, don't give competitors a sniff of what you're working on until you're ready for showtime. No benefit anymore to building in public. People are too busy to care what you're doing & they'll happily copy you.

Status has raised $17M in seed and Series A funding led by @AbstractVC, @generalcatalyst and @usv to let anyone step inside their favorite stories, become famous, and live a million different lives. We quietly launched Status last year and grew to over 1 million users in 19 days - making us the fastest growing AI app since ChatGPT. But we hit a (predictable) snag - the app was incredibly expensive to run. How do you serve millions of users without degrading the product with a cheap LLM? So the team locked in: we rebuilt the whole experience, and our technical bets paid off. Our users now spend 35 minutes on average to (90 minutes each day for power users!), and millions of characters and worlds have been created. All by our users. The next frontier of entertainment is mobile-first and deeply personal. Traditional mobile games take years to build and rarely stick. TV shows are fleeting in the age of streaming. Status is different. It is not a game you finish, it is a world you can live in. Status is a new category entirely: Immersive Social Entertainment, and we believe strongly that it is the next great entertainment paradigm. We’ve 10x’d to millions in annual revenue in Q1 2026, we're just getting started. On Status, you can be anyone.

I’m excited to share that I’m joining Andreessen Horowitz as a Partner on the New Media team, focusing on the intersection of comms, networks, and investing. I’ve been working on these three things throughout my career, first in early-stage investing and most recently in comms at Rostra, writing about my perspectives and experiences along the way. For a long time, I thought these were three different paths I’d have to choose between. I’ve done comms, but I’m not just a comms leader. I write and build community, but I’m not just a writer or community builder. And I’ve invested, but I’m not just an investor. When @eriktorenberg approached me about the opportunity, he told me I could come do all of it under one roof, at a scale that wouldn’t be possible anywhere else, and crafted the right role to make it work. @a16z is the perfect place for me to manifest the full range of my interests, skills, and ambitions. Erik has been one of my earliest believers (since college!), so this feels like a long arc finally closing. I look forward to working alongside him and the rest of a16z’s brilliant team, and also hire even more great people into the firm. I’ll be taking some time between roles to touch grass and exist in the context. In the meantime, my DMs are always open.

This is what people don’t understand when they propose a 2-state solution 1. It has been offered MANY times throughout history & they always refuse 2. The extremists in power don’t really want land… they just want to maximize killings (Jews first, then Christians, LGBTQ+, etc)

Bill Clinton: “The Palestinians were offered a state. They refused. A state wasn't their goal. Killing Jews was." This must be shared every single day.

@erica_wenger If the person you hire to lead marketing hasn’t built a real organic audience it is likely you are hiring someone to optimize paid and email campaigns and will be in a perpetual growth sink hole.

Some bittersweet news: I’ve wrapped up my apprenticeship at Rostra. I’m incredibly grateful to @lulumeservey for taking a chance on me two years ago as Rostra’s first hire. When I took the job, I had a pretty good feeling that I'd learn a great deal from Lulu, and that I’d love working with the founders in our cinematic universe. Coming from a career in venture, I had no idea if I’d love comms. Now, looking back, I know I hit a home run on all three. Working at Rostra has been the education and experience of a lifetime. I am a better writer, a better operator, and a more honest critic of my own thinking as a result. Looking ahead, I’m very excited for my next chapter — more on that soon.

Such interesting conversations to be had about org structure I’ve said someone needs to snatch up Adam Grant as an Organizational Psych in Residence to think deeply/post frequently/help portcos with all things future of work

Engineers don't write code. PMs are shipping to production. The design process is dead (there's no time). Marketing can ship their own campaigns. SDRs are being replaced by AI. Everyone's a data scientist now. What a time to be alive.

I don’t care what you think about AI, every company needs to run an internal AI hackathon @beehiiv held one last week, and it was the most productive 28 hours in company history how it worked: > teams of 3 > 28 hours to build an internal tool or feature > we judged it on “cool factor” and usefulness > winning team gets $1000 each to pimp out their workspace > 42 teams presented a 3 minute demo the demos were genuinely the most inspiring two hours I’ve had as CEO since starting the company every single project was ridiculously impressive. without giving away all of the secret sauce, here are some of the projects that were built: > outbound SDR agent for enterprise sales > deploy tracker that flags related errors, support tickets, and response time spikes > AI-powered pricing page that explains our plans to visitors > tool that finds our top advertisers and auto-generates case studies rather than simply pitching ideas, we had 42 new ideas come to life with working prototypes (and some are already in production) this is exactly why this moment in time with AI is so remarkable
