Kenya deserves leaders of integrity, not endless controversy.
@rigathi Gachagua rose to high office under a cloud of serious corruption allegations involving billions of shillings. Even the courts have questioned the source of his wealth.
But this story did not begin there.
In 1997, he was dismissed from the civil service while serving as a District Officer in Laikipia over gross misconduct. A matter he has never fully explained to the public.
In July 2021, he was arrested by the DCI at his Nyeri home over allegations of money laundering and abuse of office, tied to vast sums of money flowing through accounts associated with him.
Even within his own family, disputes have spilled into the open. Relatives of the late Nyeri Governor, Nderitu Gachagua, have raised concerns over the handling of a multibillion-shilling estate. Claims that remain contested, but serious enough to demand clarity.
Then came the unthinkable. For the first time in our history, a sitting Deputy President was impeached by constitutional institutions over violations of oath, divisive rhetoric and conduct deemed unfit for office.
This is a pattern that raises urgent questions:
Can we trust leadership weighed down by persistent integrity concerns?
Can a nation unite under divisive politics?
Can accountability mean anything if we ignore such a record?
I have challenged the impeached former Deputy President to state clear facts and stand firmly on integrity. If he wishes to lecture the nation, he must be ready to answer every question, not just the convenient ones.
Kuna mama nimebeba from Kayole Soweto to Lower Kabete, mwenye hu sponsor mtoto wake alikua ameamua kubadilisha mtoto shule to a better school that's. So uyu mama alikua anapeleka mtoto interview leo, kufika ku end trip pesa imeleta 1280 but yeye anadai kunilipa 1200 tu. #ToreBobe are basking in super glory today..
All political parties have their strongholds and bases in mature democracies. In the United States, we have Red States and Blue States with a few swing states. So is the case with Europe where we’ve distinct Labour and Conservative Party strongholds.
The situation is the same in Africa: from South Africa to Egypt and from West Africa to East Africa.
And this is so whether political parties go it alone or form coalitions like we did in 2013, 2017 and 2022. In 2013, although the ODM Party, Ford Kenya, Wiper and other Parties formed the CORD Coalition, each party had their distinct regions of influence. So was the case with NASA Coalition in 2017 and the Azimio Coalition in 2022.
This is because Coalitions need to win majority seats in leadership to effectively run government just as individual Political parties also have interests to safeguard before and after elections. This is the reason as to why Coalitions normally field only one candidate, usually from the most influential political party, in each electoral unit. A coalition which wins an election but with few MPs can’t have its Cabinet and State Officers approved, cannot have budget and will risk having its President, Deputy President, Governors, Ministers and State Officers impeached or removed from office.
Individual political parties, whether in a coalition or otherwise, fight to have good numbers in leadership. If in a coalition, political parties fight to have own members to obviate being shortchanged after elections and to pursue interests that are specific to each party, like devolution, inclusivity and human rights are to the ODM Party.
The ODM Party will only enter into pre-election coalition with parties that recognize its strongholds and respects the democratic need to have the party remain strong before and after elections.
Our coalition partner(s) have to keep off our strongholds before and after elections. This is non-negotiable.
And let no one lecture us about the merits or demerits of zoning. We know better what is good for our party and what is right for our people. You will either accept “zoning” as a precondition to our pre-election coalition talks, or leave us alone. We can’t make and continue to make all sacrifices to stabilize this government, and allow our people to be confused by UDA sangwenyas at the same time!
For the avoidance of doubt, the ODM Party will have its presidential candidate in all future elections - whether in coalition with other parties or alone.
Dr. Oburu Oginga is the ODM Party Presidential Candidate now.
Hon. George Peter Kaluma, CBS. MP.

Next Kenyan President should come from Northern Kenya. The communities that have had presidents before should step aside for 40 years and continue with their fights as new leadership propels the Country forward. Top leadership should be rotational.
@Shabanafckenya Hao wajaluo hawawezi wanaisidia. They are on a go slow because you sacked their jaluo coach. The only playing they have specialized is match fixing
The Quran says, in Surah An-Nisa, 4:10: “Declares that those who unjustly consume an orphan's wealth are, in effect, consuming fire and will face a "blazing Hell".
Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry." While a quote from the Book of Exodus (Exodus 22:22-23)
My friend Trevor just asked valid questions that have irritated some charlatans and bootlickers. That's the true spirit of journalism. Kwani Gachagua ni nani asiulizwe maswali?
Behind every successful woman kuna mwanaume…

@zaxoguda Okidi made Shabana a jaluo community club. His sacking was long over due. His jaluo players will follow him. As Gusii,we demand tat at least 80% of players MUST be Kisiis just like wat Gor & Leopards has done
I honestly don't think Peter Okidi's sacking, right now, is the right move by Shabana because his numbers are some of the best in the league this season
1. With Gor Mahia’s current form, Shabana and AFC Leopards can only fight for the second spot. There is no way any of them is winning the title.
2. Shabana has the second-best away record in the league, having picked up 23 points on their trips. Only Gor has more (28)
3. In the last 15 games, they have collected 28 points. Only Gor (34) and Leopards (30) have more.
It's either that the management is bowing to fans' pressure or they are being emotional for no reason at all.
