It’s that time of the year Orlando City gets a solid result vs Inter Miami. No prob. They’ll meltdown by the end of the season like always.

When Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen passed away in 2018, he left the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks to his sister Jody Allen. However, Jody couldn't keep the teams. As executor of the trust, Jody had to eventually sell the teams and donate the proceeds to charity. Jody sold the Trail Blazers last year for $4.25 billion, but a unique deal stopped her from selling the Seahawks. When Paul Allen bought the Seahawks, the deal was contingent on public funding for a new stadium. In return, the state of Washington included a ghost equity provision in the deal, entitling the state to 10% of the sale price if the Seahawks were sold within 25 years of the stadium's bonds being issued. But with that provision expiring last year, and the Seahawks making it back to the Super Bowl this year, Jody Allen is now putting the team up for sale. With an estimated purchase price of $7 billion or more, the Seahawks' sale will likely set a new NFL record. Portland Trailblazers Purchase price: $70 million in 1988 Sale price: $4.25 billion (11.74% annualized) Seattle Seahawks Purchase price: $200 million in 1997 Estimated sale: $7.5 billion (13.31% annuallized) That's an $11.48 billion gain (plus a lot of fun). P.S. While it ultimately didn't matter, including a ghost equity provision was a smart move by Washington's government. All of the other states that are putting up billions of dollars in taxpayer money for NFL stadiums — Kansas, New York, Tennessee, Washington, D.C. — should do the same.
