@EricsMUFC @venkman35 Definitely is that imo. He resented how he left, maybe with some justification, but Carrick is the man who replaced him and even had his shirt number (tho Keane prob didn’t care about the last part!)

David Ginola won the PFA Player of the year in 1998-99 with Spurs finishing 11th in the League. He scored 7 goals with 12 assists in 44 games in all comps. That season, United won THE treble! So no-one can tell me that Bruno can’t be considered for the award this season.

@ddb00784 Agree in that sense. However, I’ve seen people say that Bruno shouldn’t be in the running because Utd have basically only played in one competition all season, are gonna finish 3rd at best, and he’s “only” scored 7 goals. If Ginola can win it, so can Bruno with all considered.

@ralphmilne As good as that goal was, there’s no chance on earth he should’ve been awarded any player of the year award over the absolute warriors of that Utd team who won English football its first proper treble. Beckham, Keane and Yorke were elite.

@MarkC77644830 @venkman35 An extremely close call where there’s no wrong answer. I was young when Robson was in his pomp and I didn’t remember that game well other than the times my dad made me watch it video several times 😂, and obviously more recently via YouTube/MUTV.

@MarkC77644830 @venkman35 I know. It’s sad to see his mindset towards Carrick. Personally, I think there’s more to it and it could be a slight bitterness towards the man who technically replaced him at Utd, although different types of DM’s.

@MarkC77644830 @venkman35 The Keane and Vieira battle was an era between two players that I think were two best defensive midfielders of the PL era. Keane’s performance in Turin is one of the greatest individual performances from a Utd player of all time.

@EricsMUFC @venkman35 Agree Becks was brilliant esp with what he had to put up with. Personally I would have gone for Keane as imo he was on another level to any other midfielder in PL that season, with his influence on top. And had the ACL the season before

After what Beckham was met with that season & the hostility fans gave him after being scapegoated for England failing to beat Argentina, he defied them all and played an instrumental role to win the treble. Ginola’s one of the worst ever winners, imo

@venkman35 Now that is a question! It was a piss-take the! and it’s still a joke to this day. He was a good player but he was nowhere near the level of several Utd players that season. Stam was colossal. Keane, Giggs, Scholes. Yorke/Cole. Schmeichel.

@laayver_Matt91 Utd may wait for his book value to go down for another year and look to tie him into another loan like he’s on now. I don’t see anyone wanting to pay those figures for him and the wages Utd pay him. We’ve been taken to the cleaners with him 😂

@EricsMUFC Yeah that’s a possibility, he has a £26m book value left so we’d need to sell him for that to not post a loss on PSR but tbh even if we got £20m for him I’d take the £6m loss just to see him gone for good, he’s given us way to many nightmares 😂😅

Looking ahead to Friday, United have a good opportunity to put the squeeze on the CL chasing pack before they play. Chelsea, Villa & Liverpool all play in Europe again mid-week. Chelsea away at Everton. Liverpool away to Brighton. Both tough games following European ties.

@venkman35 27 years on, it’s still remarkable how he won it. David Beckham played 56 games that season, off the back of the 1998 World Cup witch-hunt on him and abuse he received, scored 9 goals with 20 assists in all comps, 12 assists in the PL. He should’ve got it, imo. Robbed.

@EricsMUFC Ginola won the football writers award as well. Largely based on a goal against Barnsley in the cup. I’m pretty sure Clayton Blackmore was in their defence. There’s a funny interview with Fergie where he finds out. Initially he thinks the interviewer was talking about PFA

@laayver_Matt91 Onan could be another Malacia and Sancho as in proving hard to sell. I think he’ll go on loan again. Who’s gonna buy him at a fee for Utd to avoid PSR loss?

@EricsMUFC The wages of sancho and casemiro leaving will be ideal plus the fees for rashford and Hojlund .. Zirkzee, Bayendir and Malacia defo be gone and I think they’ll push hard to get Ugarte gone too. I really hope someone signs Onana and tbh I’d try to sell Mount now also

@Arfaan11 He has the advantage that he takes every pen, every free kick etc. He’s also on corners regularly from the left.

@EricsMUFC I hope he does it cause it is something else getting 20 assists in PL. Unfortunately his team may let him down in front of goal which can be the case at times
