@StephTaitWrites I have had real flu 3 times in the last 20 yrs: 2x in college, once 7 yrs ago. It is no joke- extreme weakness and joint pain (had to crawl to the bathroom), high fever causing hallucinations, weeks of recovery, secondary bronchitis.
Don't mess with flu... vacc & mask up!

The northeast region of the US is now going straight up for Covid in wastewater. Nationally, things continue to rise once again this week. We are in uncertain times, so what happens next remains a mystery.

@aliciaandrz As a mom who left a highly privileged TT position after 4.5 yrs bc trying to push back on toxic workplace nearly crushed me (with no appreciable change), I hear you. I am also rooting for you!

I’ve spent almost twenty years in academia, from undergrad to this tenure-track position, & I am totally burnt out. I’ve been accused of being whiny & playing the victim for talking about this but if it’s this tough for me with all my privilege it means it’s rough out there, folks. we’ve got to build something better.

@aliciaandrz My 6yo just demanded of my MOTHER why she never taught me to play pretend, to my mom's great amusement. Pretend made me uncomfortable/upset as a kid, and still bothers me so I opt out. I do play w my kids, but we build stuff, do crafts/art, read, play board games/cards.

@oldenoughtosay One of mine threw up w liquid medicine from 6 months or so. The peds nurse said she'd show us how it's done... kiddo puked all over her. Then on the Dr when she tried.
Dr rec'ed suppositories for tylonal, & prescribed tablets to crush into applesauce or yogurt from then on.

@codyaims Price of convenience... next day for anything my team needs is extremely worthwhile for my small company for one-off builds, prototyping & pre-production.
Plus the catalog makes an excellent monitor stand.
English

@codyaims I have a tech who sometimes does initial CAD part design. I give him hand sketches bc I can NEVER explain what I need without drawing.
If I know details well enough to provide a text description, it is already designed. To get there would take... making a CAD model of the part.
English

@codyaims Agreed- if it helps w the hard/expensive parts, we'd adopt it, but isolated part design/small CAD assemblies aren't a pain point, & text to CAD doesn't make sense even w that. We design by drawing: by hand, in CAD, iterating w assemblies. The act of drawing IS the act of design.
