@erinotoole @cbcasithappens @YouTube The Advisory Council should contain Conservative voices as @RonaAmbrose did on the last go round. However, this doesn't give you any reason to bash the Leader of Opposition just to stoke your ego. Shame on you, Sir.

@erinotoole @cbcasithappens @YouTube Glad you accepted this role Erin, Canada is fortunate to have you as an advocate assisting with these important US negotiations. I would add that your pragmatic policy approach, reaching beyond blind partisanship to find consensus is what 🇨🇦 needs right now.

@elie_mcn I don’t remember this specific podcast but I think long form podcasts are a very good form of content creation. This is particularly the case if they discuss serious issues and debate solutions.

O’Toole was happy to support content creators when he was running to be leader. Here he is on my podcast. Now he’s attacking the people who help power the conservative movement. The reality is, influencers are an asset. Erin knows this because he used us when he ran for leader.

O’Toole was also extremely critical of the CPC’e embrace of social media influencers “Some of the influencers within the conservative movement now are the biggest gifts to the Liberal Party I’ve ever seen. Ignore all those so-called influencers. They’re going to guarantee you a loss in the next election” #cdnpoli

The federal government has approved Enbridge $4 billion Sunrise project in B.C. to expand the Westcoast natural gas pipeline system. The project includes the addition of about 139 km of new pipeline by constructing 11 pipeline looping segments, parallel to the existing line. It will add up to 300 million cf/d of transportation capacity. nationalnewswatch.com/2026/04/24/gov…

@colewhogan I don’t consider any of those social policy issues to be culture war topics. You are right about them cribbing many of our policies and we can (and must) hold them to account on them.

Respectfully, Mr. @ErinOToole, should Conservatives moderate on the multiple policy positions Liberals have cribbed from them? On cultural issues, you’re flat-out wrong. Conservatives lead on immigration, crime, drug policy, social cohesion issues. It’s time to lean on that.
Mackenzie Gray@Gray_Mackenzie

Former CPC leader Erin O’Toole told Global News that Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives need to moderate their policy positions if they want to beat the LPC “Ignore the culture war issues, ignore the floor crossings, and just focus on the long-term prosperity of Canadians.” globalnews.ca/news/11814734/…

Enjoyed being back in the Arctic this week. Infrastructure, defence & critical minerals were top of the agenda. On my way home we can see the role of the govt and the private sector firsthand the @RCAF_ARC and @CanadianNorth 🇨🇦

Erin O'Toole on Saturday: "Rebel Commander is not a real rank, Ezra. I will not accept if nominated and will not serve if (s)elected." Erin O'Toole on Monday: "Canada first, Canada last, Canada always" — accepting Carney's Canada-US advisory role. 48 hours between denial and acceptance. This is politics distilled. Here's what actually happened. Ezra Levant accused O'Toole of angling for a Senate seat after O'Toole praised a Carney video about Canadian history. O'Toole publicly mocked the suggestion Saturday with a Sherman-style refusal. Monday he announced joining Carney's advisory panel. Not technically a Senate seat. Technically cross-party public service that Jason Kenney defended thoughtfully (see his post elsewhere). But the optics are brutal: denial, then acceptance, in under two days. For specific context on O'Toole's actual trajectory: former Conservative leader lost 2021 election to Trudeau. Replaced by Poilievre. Post-political career has involved corporate board roles, advisory work, specific public commentary. Joining Carney's panel is consistent with that pattern. The panel itself is unpaid public service, not a Senate appointment. What Ezra Levant captured accurately is something deeper though. Political leaders across parties routinely cooperate at elite levels while their bases fight each other online. O'Toole on a Carney panel after years of opposing Liberal policies. Kenney defending this cooperation. Harper appointed Manley (Liberal) and Doer (NDP) to major roles. The top of politics is substantially more collaborative than the bottom. Supporters of parties argue and fight on social media. Leaders sit together, shake hands, and discuss their careers. This isn't corruption necessarily. It's normal elite behavior across democracies. Also genuinely frustrating for partisans who take ideological fights seriously. The specific hypocrisy here is the 48-hour reversal on public posture. O'Toole either knew he was joining and denied it publicly (lying to supporters), or didn't know and accepted abruptly (poor judgment about his own commitments), or was persuaded quickly (weak convictions). None of these reflect well. For specific Carney's position: smart politics bringing Conservative expertise into US trade strategy. Symbolic broad coalition against Trump pressure. Substantively useful given O'Toole's specific US relationships. The lesson for specific voters: watch what politicians do, not what they say about each other. Elite cooperation is normal. Partisan online fighting is theater. Both happen simultaneously. Adjust your political engagement accordingly. Don't let theater consume your actual political analysis.

Seventy-five years ago in Korea, Canadian soldiers at the Battle of Kapyong held their ground against overwhelming odds. Ten brave Canadians made the ultimate sacrifice. Today we honour their service and reflect on how our two great countries can build a better and freer future together. Lest we forget.
