Hearing the word, "Woah" quietly escape from them - there is nothing like it. Those were the moments. Those are the ones I will hold on to. What a privilege it was. On to the next part of my journey...

But what I'm choosing to reflect upon, are the nearly indescribable moments and innumerable instances of pure joy I had while witnessing a student connect with an idea...

Today is my last day teaching. There's a lot of things I could say about the profession, the system, the direction or problems I see...

@Erlenbeck Definitely, Im just looking for a single gene protein solution where the green is purely due to amino sequence and final structure. No metal cofactor. No enzymatic reactions. Protein = color :)

Some progress on my quest for a green chromoprotein. Initial clone colonies seem ever so mildly yellowish. Not forest green, not quite DasherGFP's yellow. These are in NEB Turbos so protein expression is weak. Gonna mimiprep and shock into BL21. Still glows so Dasher intact!

@ATinyGreenCell If Colorado ever sounds like a destination where you'd like to try it out I've got a high school biotech program that I'm ready to share.

I'd love to teach one day. Doesn't matter at what level. There is nothing more rewarding one can do with their time. My research practice is hedonic and a very personal journey, but teaching is absolutely soul-nourishing. Giving back > going forward.

I’ve had so many incredible messages today. Thank you for all of them. Today is day 1 (again). Mostly embarrassed, but I shouldn’t be. Today I’m waking up and choosing better.

I need so many more high school and undergrad students to see this. They're hesitant to pursue science because of the math. Imagine a world where our prospective scientists knew that PhDs were intimidated too and that it was ok to feel that way.

#Denver will be one of the most expensive cities to live in by the end of 2022. Not surprising, 17% of our housing inventory has been purchased by investors who care about profits over people This is unsustainable, and why we support @NEWRDenver @javier_mabrey and @elisabethepps

Just so everyone knows, I will be adhering to a June 31st through 61st calendar this year. I refuse to recognize that July has already arrived and am not prepared for the associated internal panic. Thank you.
