Hafiz Gul Bahadur’s group is part of Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen, while Jamaat-ul-Ahrar is a separate group. The announcement to avenge the killings was not made by Hafiz Gul Bahadur.
And it is not a Deobandi vs non-Deobandi conflict either.

The jihadist ecosystem in Pakistan and Afghanistan is at loggerheads with each other [not the first] as multiple groups look for expanding their influence under various conglomerates. The differences amongst these groups is the Deobandi and Non-Deobandi hermeneutics on the issues of Qital, Takfir, Zakat and Jizya amongst other social-political factors. After the clashes between rival Pakistani Taliban factions, TTP and JuA killing 18 and capturing 7 others in 3 separate locations. Al Qaeda and Afghan Taliban have been trying to intervene to stop the bloodshed after the Hafiz Gul Bahadar groups’s military chief decided to avenge the killings. The roots for the current conflict were planted in November of 2025 through a religious decree by the jurisprudence department of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
