@nwoguuu I mean our defence really is the highlight of our team. It's no surprise it's all our defensive players that are candidates for player of the year.

@SindySolir @topskillsportuk They're honouring the original bets, so they'll probably just do the same and honour whatever they'e paid out now. They probably saw their losses weren't going to be significant, and that this would be good PR.

🚨💣 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: Sky Bet has officially announced and already processed payouts to all customers who bet on Morocco to win the 2025 AFCON. 🇲🇦🏆 This follows CAF’s ruling that stripped Senegal of the title and awarded Morocco the trophy via a 3-0 forfeit. Their exact statement: "The result of the 2025 AFCON final has been officially reversed, with Morocco now being crowned winners of the tournament. We have now paid out on Morocco as winners in the outright market.” They are also honouring the original bets on Senegal — creating a rare double payout situation for punters who backed either side. 😳

Gyokeres linking up and running in behind and making things happen, beautiful 😍 He's able to do this because he doesn't hide away after mistakes, he goes again and again till it works.

@notntx @mannydubbs @osowxvyy He's literally 16 tho. I don't think he's thinking deeply about all that when calling Dowman an 'idol'. It's probably just a way of expressing the crazy feeling of seeing someone their age and so young doing things that they could only dream of

@PaddyArsenal I mean the assist is just exquisite, all Eze had to do was use the momentum of Foden's perfectly weighted ball and it was always going in. Orchestrator.

@tebzafc The opponents standing right next to Raya can't even tell but they want the ref to call the foul. So thick.

@nigel_b_golf Come on give Big Gabi his flowers his impact and dominance in both boxes is insane. Saliba has been very important for the way we build up from the back, best on the ball. But let's please give Big Gabi his deserved credit.

@hxlwell @MaxRadwan Doubt it lad, he scored in an open net, hardly goal of the season. If it wasn’t last minute, he wouldn’t have scored cos we wouldn’t have everyone in the opposite box

@joshua98278642 @Craaaque Obviously, but some of the touches he does in game you wouldn't even think he's a pro. (Doesn't mean he doesn't make any good touches, it just means he makes a lot of bad ones as well)

@Real1_balogun You really got to sacrifice your childhood to make it as a professional footballer. That's an insane amount of work.

This is how it works. The Premier League has set up the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) to develop academy youngsters and doing well in school is part of that programme. Before the EPPP was launched in 2012, young players from academies didn't really take the GCSEs. That meant that a lot of them had nowhere to turn to when their professional football dreams failed. In the current plan, every academy player has to take at least 8 subjects in the GCSEs. They have three training programmes: Part time — where you get to train at the academy after school hours. Hybrid — where academy players can join their clubs on what's known as the ‘day release’. The Day Release is when those players leave school at lunchtime to head to training with their clubs. It happens every Tuesday. Most academy players are on the hybrid model. Full time — football development is mixed with the school timetable. The full-time model is only open to most of the Category 1 academies. They're the highest grade academies in the country. The academies of the elite clubs. To make players have that balance, there are schools the club are in agreement with to achieve this. The clubs pay for those kids and it's why they get Scholarship deals. Nwaneri, MLS, Dowman, Salmon and many others were or have been on scholarship. Dowman attends Brentwood School. When he was named in Arsenal’s U-19 squad for the UEFA Youth League, this was what the school said: “Max’s extraordinary achievements on the pitch are matched by his determination off it. While most of his U18 teammates have left school, it is fantastic to see Max working hard in and out of the classroom, balancing his busy training schedule and exceptional football ability with his studies.” Another close example of a school which clubs have their players at is Dean Trust schools in Manchester. Remember when Marcus Rashford scored a brace against Arsenal and still went to school on Monday? He was at a school called Ashton on Mersey, one of the schools owned by Dean Trust. Axel Tuanzebe, Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood all went to that school. It's like a sports college that lays great emphasis on education. Those boys cannot play for the school team. Man United and that school have been in agreement since 1997. Not sure if they are still partners. Currently, Arsenal have 7 players on that full-time model. Dowman and Salmon are some of them. What the club does is that they recruit players from the U-14 level from anywhere in the UK, place them with a host family if they are not local and also send them on scholarship to that partner school. With Dowman, it's taken some immense work to get him ready for his GCSEs this year. That means he has to be in school to fulfil that part of his scholarship. Some of these players write exams and then head to training, just to fulfil that bargain. You should follow me. You'll learn a new thing every time.
zispoms@imzispoms

Dowman still has to go to school? Don't top academy players get some specialized education program so they can train with the first team
