It’s so important for women to surround ourselves with other women who bring out our feminine energy. Women we can play and be silly with, women who make us feel loved and seen, women we can relax with, women we can do girly things with. True sisterhood is medicine for women

@faithmaycreate Costco chicken bake and a premier protein shake was the only way I could get my protein during my last pregnancy 😅 one meal and I'd have 91g!

@Tallowtwins @teetertooters I just read up on the science behind or putting a bit of cord/membrane/placenta in the cheek. That's absolutely fascinating! I had never heard of it before

@teetertooters SO many options! A piece of umbilical cord or amniotic sac in the cheek. Chinese herbs (yunnan baiyao). Yarrow/black cohosh/shepherds purse tincture. Teas and food for nourishment and rest if it’s not urgent.

Birth Propaganda I won't be falling for... • Due dates • Ultrasounds • Fetal monitoring • Cervical checks • Gloved hands • Induction • Hospital birth over home birth • AROM • Strangers at your birth • Coached pushing • Pitocin for bleeding management What would you add?

@BlueEyeFatWagon @MeleeIsCooked Never said no one says it. I definitely do in my work. Just in education and certain schools we are taught not to use explicitly female terms in an attempt to be inclusive

I fundamentally believe all the pains and discomforts of pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood were crafted by God to be experienced with presence, as a refining tool to prepare and shape us into something better suited for stewarding those roles. And that chronically seeking out myriad ways and methods of escaping that pain & discomfort in an attempt to exert personal control isn’t beneficial for the soul at best, and self-destructive at worst.

Got a few members DMing me about recent discourse about birth in their feed Let’s talk about it! This space is all about giving all types of women access to a full range of opinions so that they may make informed decisions for themselves ❤️ As long as nobody is blatantly rude to one another you are encouraged to have intellectual discourse in here.

@abysstoabyss Yes! So glad she advocated for you. I've heard many stories of women who clearly said they didn't want to purple push, only to be told to hold their breath and push as hard as they could. It can have consequences, though I haven't read up on the benefits.Thank you for sharing.

@Essielesse So I LOVED my doula! I had a hospital birth, and one moment I remember vividly is that during pushing, the OB kept trying to get me to hold my breath. I had already decided I wanted to do differently, and my doula just whispered in my ear “you can push however you want to push”😍

I'm working on my doula certification and want to learn from real experiences. 1. What's one thing your birth team did (or didn't do) that really stuck with you-good or bad? 2. If you could go back and advocate for yourself during labor, what would you do differently?

My doula stayed with me until I got moved to the mother/baby floor. She didn’t just leave as soon as my twins were born. She somehow was spoon feeding me applesauce, hand expressing colostrum for the babies to be syringe fed, and changing out my barf bags. All at the same time? I had a hard comedown from all the adrenaline and the drug cocktail to stop my pp hemorrhage so husband was doing skin to skin with babies during all this. And then she also got clothes out of my bag for me, made sure my bag was packed, and helped me get dressed when it was time to move rooms. A literal angel on earth.

One of my top requirements for my children’s names was that they be recognizable names that are easy to spell. Unfortunately I overestimated the Biblical literacy (and regular literacy) of the general population and so they still get misspelled but I did try.
