We're closing this Women's History Month, by honoring a true pioneer: Dr. Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina astronaut in history. On April 8, 1993, Dr. Ochoa flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery — making history and opening a door that had never been opened before. She went on to spend nearly 1,000 hours in space across four missions, and later became the first Latina director of NASA's Johnson Space Center. Dr. Ochoa has always said it best herself: "If you stay true to yourself and your work ethic, you can find what you're good at." #america250 #builditonthemall #womenshistorymonth

Casa Mexico’s Pre-Oscars Brunch was more than a moment, it was a reflection of something much deeper. Anchored by almost 100 years of the Oscar's, the celebration brought together artists, storytellers, and leaders across film and culture, it created space to celebrate the voices and stories that have long shaped both Hollywood and the country itself. Thank you to @consulmexlan for its leadership in creating this unique space and to our partners @Laliff_, Intersect Public Affairs, Mosaico and @donjulio. 🌟 Women's History Spotlight: Dr. Antonia Novello In 1990, Dr. Antonia Novello made history as the first woman and first Latina to serve as U.S. Surgeon General under President George W. Bush— and she used every bit of that platform to make a difference. From childhood immunization to youth smoking to the HIV/AIDS crisis, she consistently showed up for women, children, and communities that deserved more attention from public health leaders. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she understood firsthand what it meant to navigate systems that weren't always designed for you. She also shared her story in her memoir, Duty Calls: Lessons Learned from an Unexpected Life of Service, reflecting on the path that led her to a lifetime of public service. She also served as Chief of Staff to First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, helping shape policy and strategy at the White House.
