It's great that the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom will be sitting in Glasgow's magnificent City Chambers next week. The most interesting case for Glaswegians will be Forthwell v Pontegadea on Wednesday 20 May, concerning the future of the city's historic Rogano restaurant.

The Supreme Court will sit in Glasgow for four days of appeal hearings between 18th-21st May. A full list of appeals being heard can be found on our website, and members of the public are welcome to join us: supremecourt.uk/news/uksc-make…

Congratulations to Celtic on winning the league. But some of the replies from Celtic fans mocking my son’s passing have been utterly vile. For a club that speaks so proudly about faith and compassion, some of you should be ashamed of the hatred you’ve shown.

Scottish football lost today. Celtic could not have won the league without the dodgy VAR decision v Motherwell. Hearts gave their all, defeated the Old Firm five times & Derek McInnes was magnificent. But what chance have non-Old Firm challengers got with such Old Firm biases?

Definitely understand the mid-match pitch invasion for Celtic there, I mean it’s only their 476th consecutive league title only comes along once in a lifetime

Really good to see the UK Supreme Court coming to Glasgow and hosted in the magnificent City Chambers. The Court should be accessible for people across the UK to see justice done - these sessions will be open to the public so do get along if you’re free and interested!

This is open to the public as well as being live streamed. The City Chambers is a fantastic building and well worth seeing. Highlight of the week is Forthwell v Pontegadea - the Rogano case - on Wednesday. One of the great private law theoretical problems - the legal black hole.

McArthur is the *obvious* and sensible choice. Served a term as DPO, understands the parliament inherently, strong presence and universally respected. Pleading with MSPs to make the right call here, as this session more important than any to have the right PO in place

@DeanMThomson @smaglens It’ll make minority government a nightmare for them, assuming that’s the outcome. Even though they have more seats than the 2007-2011 Salmond gov, Swinney doesn’t have the same acumen as Salmond plus the Tories were willing to work with the SNP back then.

I guess it's that time, so here's my Holyrood prediction: SNP 51 MSPs (-13) Reform: 24 (+24) Labour: 20 (-2) Conservative: 12 (-19) LDem: 12 (+8) Green: 10 (+2) SNP 14 short of a majority. SNP seats I think they will lose: Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse Rutherglen East Lothian Clydebank and Milngavie Perthshire South and Kinross-shire Aberdeen South and North Kincardine Aberdeenshire East Banffshire and Buchan Coast Ayr Caithness Sutherland and Ross Glasgow Kelvin

Our brave officers confronted a man they believed to be a terrorist, who refused to show his hands, who was violent, and who continued to pose a clear threat. Using only their training, courage and tasers, they detained him while he continued to try to attack and stab them. This took true courage.

Jews, like all British citizens, should not have to hide their (my) identity to feel safe. This is a crisis. The elision in so many minds between Jews and Israel - Jews and support for the Israeli government - is pure cancerous antisemitism (and of course violence against Jews would never be justifiable even when they do support Netanyahu, and I feel slightly sick this needs saying). If you have ever suffered prejudice because of the colour of your skin, or your sexuality, or your gender or your faith, you will presumably empathise with what I am saying. We are one family. Antisemitism, like a toxic proliferating weed, needs digging up by the roots. As one part of its eradication, leaders of all faiths and all political persuasions must stand up and call out this most pernicious and ignorant of hate ideologies

Mimum pricing legislation took over 5 years after enactment before a final decision on the competence of the legislation in the supreme court. And any individual or organisation can challenge not just the UK government. This is a policy that is not designed to be implemented.
Conor Matchett@conor_matchett

Swinney gives the game away here. Says food caps can't be done quickly (they need legislation), but it would be "quite the spectacle" if UK Labour block it - which is obviously the intention Colin's right to say if it's not done quickly, it's not worth much to struggling Scots
