While I’m talking about parenting choices and tech etc let’s have another discussion about something that gets everyone in a flap. It’s my opinion that you shouldn’t post your young kids online - least of all if you have a large audience and you’re in an industry with routine kidnappings and security issues like crypto. There are a lot of nefarious and horrible people who get their ‘content’ from seemingly regular photos of children, if you’re ever in doubt about that - check the amount of ‘saves’ on videos/images that feature children. It’s awful. Then there’s your digital footprint. Digital footprints are forever and I don’t wanna have a hand in creating one my child didn’t consent to. I feel this way about parents sharing sensitive medical information about their kids also - I’m sure we’d all absolutely hate to have grown up having our medical history, family history, and family photos on the internet for literally anybody to see. These are the first generations growing up like this and the lack of privacy is astonishing. We should be empowering our kids to decide what they share and with who, when they’re old enough. There’s safety and peace in anonymity- I think that’s a greater gift than likes on social media.
