This journey is playing a vital role in shifting the country's economic structure from agricultural dependency toward industrialization, saving foreign currency, and creating job opportunities. One of the primary goals of the sector is to balance the trade deficit by replacing imported goods with local products. This effort has yielded encouraging results over the last four years. The "Made In Ethiopia" movement has successfully addressed critical industrial bottlenecks, driving a structural shift in the manufacturing sector through these key performance indicators: Input Supply & Linkages Massive Volume Growth: • Total raw material supply surged from 29 million tons to 76 million tons. •Efficiency Gains: Annual average supply grew from 9 million to 15 million tons. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially launched the 4th ‘Made in Ethiopia’ Expo today, underscoring Ethiopia’s strong push to expand its manufacturing sector. The program has already delivered major results: - Manufacturing input supply increased from about 9 million to over 15 million tons annually - Over 3.4 GW of electricity supplied to new industrial investments - Financing surged from 8.1 billion birr to over 50 billion birr for SMEs, and 262+ billion birr for large industries - $2.28+ billion in foreign currency allocated to the sector - Production capacity utilization improved from 47% to 67% - Manufacturing growth rose from 4.8% to 10.7%, with further growth expected - Import substitution saved up to $4.85 billion, while exports continue to grow - More than 2,800 investments attracted and 1.4 million jobs created The Expo itself has become a key national platform, linking industries, attracting investment, while drawing hundreds of exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors. The House of People’s Representatives has adopted the new Criminal Procedure and Evidence Code as Proclamation No. 1410/2026. Over the past eight years, the Government of Ethiopia has undertaken a wide range of legal and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening constitutionality, enhancing the protection of rights, and consolidating the rule of law. Reform of the Criminal Procedure Code was identified as a key priority within this broader reform agenda. The previous Criminal Procedure Code of 1961, which had been in force for more than half a century, had become outdated. Comprehensive revision was therefore necessary to align it with the FDRE Constitution, the Criminal Justice Policy, and recent international developments, as well as to accommodate new processes and technologies. The newly adopted Criminal Procedure and Evidence Code is the result of extensive consultations conducted over several years. It marks a significant milestone in reforming the criminal justice system, introducing comprehensive rules of evidence and addressing gaps in criminal investigation and prosecution. #EthiopiaDelivers #PMOEthiopia
