EtraPay is uniting with Avalanche! I couldn’t be more thrilled, and it’s hard to capture just how monumental this feels. @EtraPay started with a simple question: “Why can’t I just pay for my coffee with a stablecoin on a blockchain?” Over two years ago, I asked this question to my co-founder, as we sat in a coffee shop after a hackathon. That spark set us on a path, and while today marks a significant milestone, we’re just getting started. We created EtraPay to make blockchain-based payment a faster, more secure, and more resilient alternative to traditional payment systems. To improve user experience, our first step was developing a fully on-chain, wallet-agnostic, and contactless payment solution supporting point-of-sale terminals. But as we progressed, we encountered a deeper, often ignored challenge: privacy. It’s the hidden cornerstone of any on-chain payment protocol—absolutely essential yet highly challenging to achieve. Without it, the potential for proper blockchain-based payments would remain unrealized. Privacy is an interesting concept. You don’t recognize its necessity until it impacts your security. Privacy becomes a daunting need on blockchains where transparency is both a feature and a challenge. While transparency might seem ideal, it’s actually a byproduct of decentralization, not a goal. And privacy itself is a double-edged sword: It’s essential when balanced; too much, and it can shroud criminal activity, hindering mainstream adoption. To enable privacy responsibly, one must prioritize auditability above all. With this in mind, we designed novel on-chain privacy protocols that are practical and compliant for the first time. We have built our first product, the zkPay app, and showcased its capabilities by demonstrating in-store payments using the Core wallet. Even though zkPay employs zero-knowledge proofs, homomorphic encryption, and various other complicated techniques under the hood, it features a very simple user interface and a clear purpose: bringing secure on-chain payments to life. It was a blockchain-based product that you could “touch” and “feel.” It gained significant attention from various communities, displaying a clear demand. That’s when we connected with the @avax family, who build blockchains for the masses and prioritize developing real-world solutions with a clear vision and incredible ambition. From there, we developed Avacy, the most advanced on-chain payment protocol yet. In September 2023, we integrated Avacy into a custom Avalanche blockchain, the Payment Network, and launched it on the testnet. The result was fascinating and powerful, which attracted the attention of various central banks, payment giants, and various companies. It was clear that bringing Avacy to its full potential with a small team of three engineers and one academic wasn’t feasible. As we got to know the Avalanche team, we realized our visions aligned. Unlocking the future of on-chain payments and privacy, turning our dreams into reality. Today, we’re integrating our technologies into @AvaCloud to bring security and privacy to millions across the Avalanche networks. Together, we’ll enable revolutionary use cases on blockchains, paving the way for unprecedented applications. Over the past few months, so much has changed. We’ve built new protocols and made countless improvements, each designed to solve real-world challenges. But in many ways, we’re still just getting started. @Corpetty @azzabazazz @kevinsekniqi Hey @Corpetty! Our Evacy solution can provide complete privacy on both protocol, staking and mempool levels. Network-level privacy (assuming you don't mean VPN and similar) can be achieved through a permissioned setting. We would be happy to tell you more about our solution😊
