86 years ago today, Winston Churchill, Prime Minister for exactly 5 days, was woken by his phone ringing at 7:30 a.m. It was Paul Reynaud, the French Premier. His voice was hollow. "We have been defeated. We are beaten; we have lost the battle." Churchill, half-asleep, couldn't process it: "Surely it can't have happened so soon?" Reynaud: "The front is broken near Sedan. They are pouring through in great numbers with tanks and armoured cars." The German invasion was 5 days old. The "impassable" Ardennes forest had just funneled seven Panzer divisions through France's weakest hinge. The next day, Churchill flew to Paris. He asked General Gamelin a single question: "Where is the strategic reserve?" Gamelin shrugged. "Aucune." None. France had no reserve. There was nothing behind the line that had just broken. Churchill later wrote that this was one of the greatest shocks of his life. The country he'd grown up believing had the finest army in Europe had already lost the war. They just didn't know it yet. Six weeks later, Paris fell.

Born just weeks apart in 1926 Queen Elizabeth and Sir David Attenborough had a decades long friendship. Sir David produced the Queen’s Christmas message from 1986-1991 (I didn’t know that). He received his first knighthood in 1985 from the Queen. In 2022 he received an even higher honour, when he was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George from the then Prince Charles. In 2005 he was awarded the Order of Merit (OM) by the Queen, in recognition for his exceptional contribution to broadcasting, natural history and public education. He graduated from Cambridge in 1947, holds 32 honorary degrees and has been awarded many prestigious awards over the years. He’s also won multiple BAFTA and Emmy awards. What an incredible life this amazing man has lead in his 100 years. #HappyBirthdayDavidAttenborough 💙💙💙

The goal was not given and the games finished 0-0 2006 • The night before a huge game against West Ham the entire Spurs squad fell severly ill through food poisoning which was later known as LASSAGNE GATE. In what would of been a simple away win at the time turned into defeat handing our bitter rivals Arsenal the 4th spot and champions league football at our expense 2012 • Speaking of 4th spots and champions league football. This year not only did something unprecedented happen that led to the rules being changed the following season. Spurs reached the 4th and final spot in the champions league but were denied qualification by Chelsea who with one of their worst teams in that era went on to win the competition with a caretaker manager in charge 2019 • That controversial Moussa Sissoko hand ball in the opening minute of the Champions League final against Liverpool. Had VAR existed the decision would of been overturned and we would of gone on to potentially lift the trophy for the first time in the clubs history THIS IS PROOF THAT THE SAYING YOU MAKE YOUR OWN LUCK IS A LOAD OF “YOU KNOW WHAT”
