In March 1960, seven-time World Motorcycle Champion John Surtees — born OTD in 1938 — decided to make a drastic switch up and made his four-wheeled racing debut here at Goodwood. Just four years later, the Briton bested Graham Hill by a single point to the #F1 Drivers' World Championship aboard the #Ferrari 158 — a car he was later reunited with at #GoodwoodRevival — and cemented his place as one of the most versatile men to ever compete in motorsport.

@fosgoodwood I'll always be incredibly proud to have managed the PR for John Surtees and the Henry Surtees Foundation. To issue the final press release when he crossed the finish line, was incredibly tough.

The great John Surtees — the only man to ever win World Championships on two wheels and four — was born OTD in 1938. We had the pleasure of hosting the Briton on many occasions at #FOS, but this run up the Goodwood Hill in his title-winning #Ferrari 158 alongside Kimi Räikkönen in the F2007 has remained one of our favourite ever moments.

I still do my bit for @MrDerekBell we hope to get his Facebook account live again shortly to be able to announce some of his public appearances this year. But coming up . . .
