I'm a deacon. Yes, we don't give random strangers money, and we will still consider helping you but we need to know your situation and why you came straight to us and not a food bank or organizations that exist for that very reason. Churches are not awashed with money and the funds we do have for mercy needs are for members of the church.
Also the lady who was doing this was called out in the comments for lying, which is incredible people take her video and run with the idea that churches are just selfish and greedy.

There's a lady on tiktok calling churches saying she needs help buying formula for her baby just to see if they will actually help their communities. She's called 20+ places and so far only a mosque and a tiny little church in Appalachia have offered to help.

There are 22 million American households receiving SNAP benefits for groceries, at $4200 per year on average. Try to get your head wrapped around how many pantries you can stock with $4200 dollars in properly shopped groceries. Any American who has been receiving $4200 dollars per year of free groceries and does NOT have at least 1 month of groceries stocked should never again receive SNAP, because wow, stop smoking crack.

Forgot to say: I woke up this morning at 4am to my family panicking and telling me that the toilet tank in the upstairs bathroom had spontaneously cracked from top to bottom and spent several hours leaking water through the walls all the way to the basement.

@InsuranceBozo The sink and the water heater weren't covered, so no claim. The burst pipe itself wasn't covered, but the damage and repair from the pipe was. I had a terrible agent who wouldn't answer my phone calls, emails, or texts for weeks at a time.

11 mo ago my water heater broke, a pipe burst in my kitchen wall, and my sink faucet broke within 2 days of each other, in three separate incidents. This caused flooding that required water mitigation, my kitchen torn apart, and a new floor, and 9 months of fights with insurance.
