@caithness_gunni @humantransit This is how I approach most things. I don’t need to agree to try to understand, or see things from a different point of view.

@humantransit @Excel3664 She was immensely talented and Wolfe respected her. Definitely not a writer to be ignored because of her worldview—in fact a very good way to learn about, understand, and dialogue with that worldview.

@MichaelClimek I’ve read new Sun, Wizard/knight and endangered species by Wolfe. I needed a small break for sure and have read a few shorter books since. Going to check out another Wolfe short story collection and prob get to Le Guin soon.

@Excel3664 I just finished BotNS (and Urth) a month ago. I wasn't ready to delve into Long Sun yet. So I read Blindsight, Books 1&2 of the Horus Heresy, and DNF'd Echopraxia. I also read a light book in between each BotNS book. You miss things if you mainline Wolfe, take a break.
English

@humantransit I decided to go with Wolfe. He’s already a favorite of mine. I’ve only read some short stories and essays from Le Guin. Id like to read more from her though.

@Excel3664 LeGuin and Wolfe couldn't be more different. Do you want a Catholic moral universe or an agnostic one?

@ReReadingWolfe Castle of Days and Starwater Strains are on my list is as well. I decided on Innocents Aboard, found a copy for a fair price. Looking forward to digging in, especially with a strong recommendation from you.

Innocents Aboard is my favorite Wolfe collection.
That said, Starwater Strains has the brown book story that the Cumaean and Severian discuss and also two other BotNS related stories.

Torn on my next read. I’ve been missing Wolfe, but I’m not ready to commit to the next chunk of the solar cycle just yet. I’ve been wanting to check out another of his short story volumes after enjoying Endangered Species. I also want to read more Leguin. Conflicted.

@spaceracex5 Good picks. I’d like to get to some Walt Whitman at some point.

@Tommy_Nicoletti @Jaakko92472972 @HMBohemond That being said, he’s flawed, and his opinion of what may be the best outcome may not align with what you’d attribute to a hero. If you’re on the short end of that stick… yeah. Haha.
English

@Tommy_Nicoletti @Jaakko92472972 @HMBohemond He had the first three books conceptually finished before starting the first novel. Paul is not a hero or a villain. He’s a tragic character who must choose a hard path with the best outcome. The later books make this more clear.
English

@ZB_Steele Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe. Nothing really compares in my opinion.
English

@fandompulse American comic books have become vapid and repetitive. In my opinion, this is the reason many have shifted to manga or other hobbies as a whole. I hate to see the space becoming so stale. There are still some good books but they are rare.

Dan Slott begs readers and retailers to order new Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day series
"If you don't support the issues 2s and 3s these books will go away by issue 5."
Is Marvel comics on life support?

I’m excited for this. The Dune films have been excellent so far. I may re read all 6 before this comes out.
