My wife and I have spent the entire day debating the meaning of this parking sign, which we encountered along the side of the road while on vacation in Cornwall, England. What do you think? maps.apple.com/place?map=sate…

@aaron_pearce Is this what we have to do to have a real Mac HomeKit app?

@drrogera @DarioAmodei Browser tab idea isn't terrible assuming you don't have to click to refresh it. And yes, there should be sounds and animations every time it refreshes lol

Claude should just show your Current Session Usage in the bottom left corner of the app. Kind of ridiculous we constantly have to navigate and do two mouse clicks to check it manually. @DarioAmodei plz fix

I love how I COULD have replacement touch panels from taobao for 2nd gen Apple HomePods for as little as $10 a pop but I guess I'm not allowed to and I have to buy the $90 aliexpress alternative?

We’ve received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. We'll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon. We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models.

@drbarnard The ethernetless model doesn’t have Matter if you use that.

Either way, I’m only out $125 (instead of $250) while I hold out for a new model. I could probably do without ethernet, but I like the idea of hardwiring things when I can. With WiFi as good as it is these days, is that just superstition from being old and having seen things?

@helloapplehome @Andrew_OSU ASSA ABLOY has a really bad track record about keeping their own apps up-to date. The Yale lock was one of the best early HomeKit products.

Having worked in M&A in a previous career,—The real story here isn’t the loss of Level as a product—it’s the human impact on the employees who have lost their jobs, that’s the sad part. ASSA ABLOY bought Level for its IP. That deal closed in 2024, so they’ve had around two years to integrate the business, process-map operations, and fold the technology into their existing portfolio. I’d also be surprised if the advances in AI across customer service and support haven’t reduced the need for the same staffing levels. this might have caused the full exit of the team vs the original plan. The bottom line is that I don’t think the product is going away medium term. It’ll almost certainly continue to be supported by a company this size, and I’d expect to see Level’s technology appear in future ASSA ABLOY products.

Well fuck! This is why these acquisitions are bad. This almost always happens. You have a unique, amazing product that is loved, gets acquired by a massive brand, then the team is liquidated, and it's largely dissolved. How awful. So disappointing. appleinsider.com/articles/26/06…
