In 1888, power and religious struggles forced Kabaka Mwanga II to exile his Nephew Prince Nuhu Mbogo Kyabasinga who was an important figure in the history of Islam in Uganda. Mbogo was exiled at Bukasa Island in Ssese lslands where he lived for nearly ten years until 1897.

St. Padre PIO Prayer Center was opened in 2018 after one of the strong Catholic believers was impacted by the legacy of Padre Pio, that prompted him to donate 5 acres of Land at Misaali Hill in Masaka. It's the 2nd Centre for Padre Pio in Uganda after the Kabulamuliro center.

This is the home where St. Bruno Sserunkuuma was born. It's located at Ssaza-Masaka a short distance from the Buddu county headquarters. He was born in 1856 to Mr. Kizza Kibuuka Majalya Namujulirwa who was the Buddu county chief. He died a Martyr on June 3, 1886. #VisitMasaka🇺🇬
