Ginger bloom. Look at her; pink stem glowing at dusk, white blossoms dangling like tiny lanterns or pearls on a thread. Not loud. Just blooming the way wise things do; quietly, suddenly, as if beauty was inevitable all along.

Your picture makes me think: “…The rustlers and squawkers had already quieted to a simmer within the Hickory’s broad canopy. The sun, no longer the robust bold yellow it had been just hours before, was wholly reminiscent of pink coral shells hanging from leaf tips like fine jewelry. In a single breath, the last spattering of sunset disappeared into a milky blue sky.”

@KathleenEdge What a cutie! My daughter was a rock collector- all types - including gravel from the road 😂. I always had to check for rocks in her pockets before washing her clothes. I miss those days…

My daughter brought me back souvenir Powder puff China Aster seeds from the United States Botanic Garden in DC. They are doing great. I potted 8 and am going to plant the other 4 directly in the ground. They will look like the 2nd Pic late summer.

We have grown a lot of things besides garden veggies. We grew and exhibited roses when we lived in Austin. We had over 100 bushes. Hydroponics for lettuce and tomatoes. Propagating cuttings and creating hybrids is something left on my bucket list. Enter the orchid. We are off and running with help from our friends! click .... Bonus...it's a great macro subject!

@Seedsoilsunrain Apricots on the counter, blushing gold by noon; softening sweetly in the kitchen light, like little suns learning summer soon.

The wind is back! Not as bad as the last few days but still enough to be super annoying and continue to de-fruit my apricot tree. They are starting to ripen so I’m considering starting to pick for counter ripening.

@owroot A true love story. You two made the best out of humble beginnings and have been together long enough to look back and realize that some of the simplest times were among the best seasons of your lives. Love to read this first thing in the morning! ☀️❤️

When my wife and I were young we made no money. I know everyone says that and people roll their eyes but it's actually true. I don't remember the exact numbers but we were always working for ourselves and scarping along doing creative stuff (music, writing etc...)and some years I was probably making probably 25k a year or something. My wife the same. We had a great life. We traveled a lot and did everything so damn cheap so we could do it. The cheapest food, busses, trains, flights, apartments etc... It was great. I love those memories. One time we moved into this loft apartment (and not the fancy updated kind either) that was just one big room with concrete floors and we furnished it slowly over the next 6 months with stuff we found for sale or being given away for free in the apartment building. We used old shipping pallets to create room dividers. I somehow convinced them to rent it to us without any proof of employment. We would go out to eat once a week and go to some place with one of their weekly deals. It was a big deal for us. Today we make more money but we live in a small modest house, we drive one car, we eat most of our meals at home, and we keep a pretty low overhead which allows us more flexibility as a family. We choose to spend our money on other things, but in general I know that compared to lots of people we are quite modest. It might not seem like that sometimes because we live in a beautiful spot, but you know the woods and the waves on the beach are free. We live pretty modestly, but the thing is we feel more comfortable than we ever have before because we aren't worried about our checking account being overdrawn. I know we will choose to live in a bigger house one day and it will be nice. We will have more room and all of that. And I know that just like we talk about when we were really broke and smile we will talk about now and smile too. I don't know the moral of the story, it's just a story, or just a reflection about life, growth, and what makes us happy.

@hollyonthefarm Wow. You’ve got a lot on your plate. But on the other side of all this opportunity is a flourishing business, less travel to and from the hospital and a gorgeous wedding in August. 😊🍀 good things happen to good people. Best of luck to you!
