Why are people thinking making children sit from day 1 reception will improve anything!! That’s a serious lack of child development knowledge and ignorance to the fact that childhood is now digital this is why our early years teachers are crying out for support.

I'm seeing quite a few articles about toilet training atm. I know that these refer to Reception age children but with schools often taking children from 2 years old now, obviously they are going to have to help with toilet training.

This is why working with children is so brilliant. ‘Arthur lives down the hill and I live up the hill.’ 🥰

I've been reflecting a lot on appropriate expectations recently. I like these from Singapore for children aged 6-7, so by the end of our year 1 / start of year 2.

@MichaelRosenYes I'd question...With Ofsted focusing on individual curriculums in each school, how can this be bespoke to the different cohorts in 2 very different schools and meet the needs of the learners? When I used it with my own children during Lockdown, it was a little 'wordy' and clunky.

Children's motor skills develop from the head down and the body outwards. That's one reason why it's really important for them not to be too static (there are lots of others). The prime areas are prime for a reason. 😊 #EYFS

If you want to know more about developing children's speaking and listening, a top tip is to ask your early years colleagues because it's always been a key focus in the phase. 😊 #EYFS #oracy

"Children under 5 should not be inactive for long periods, except when they're asleep." We need to celebrate *moving*, not sitting, for healthy development! #EYFS
