@athorabs85 @BOU_Official @DPFUganda Amounts above the protected limit of UGX 10million are paid from the proceeds of the liquidation process that normally follows a bank closure, as per the prevailing T&Cs set out by the Regulator.

But wait ko a bit; so deposit protection fund only protects deposits up to 10million shillings. So what happens to the balance???? Like for those who do larger deposits??? @BOU_Official @DPFUganda

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Matia Kasaija hosted our Board of Directors at the @mofpedU HQs today, December 11, 2024. The bi-annual engagement is a platform to update the line Minister about the key developments at the Fund. The DPF Board Chairman Mr. Ben Patrick Kagoro, who led the team, presented to the Minister the Report for the Financial Year ended June 2024 and the Quarter ended September 30, 2024. Key highlights of the report are; 1. The successful payment of protected deposits for EFC Uganda Ltd and Mercantile Credit Bank Ltd which were closed by @BOU_Official in January and June 2024 respectively. 2. Growth in the fund size from UGX 1.35 trillion as at June 2023 to UGX 1.61 trillion by September 2024. 3. At the UGX 10million protection limit, 98.25% of the depositors are fully covered. 4. Deposit accounts exceeding UGX 10million constitute 2% of the total deposit accounts. The Minister of Finance appreciated the DPF team for the steady progress attained and encouraged them to stay on this course. He reiterated his earlier directive to the Board and Management to hasten the acquisition of land for the DPF Head Office. He also emphasised the importance of benchmarking with the best in the sector with a view to adopting the best practices. The Board Chairman Mr. Kagoro expressed appreciation of the Board to the Minister for his confidence in the team and the continued stewardship. #Yourdepositsareprotected up to UGX 10m

@MustaphaMugisa @DPFUganda Dear Mustapha, DPF's mandate is not only to ensure that depositors are paid fast but that it is the right depositor paid. The requirements to confirm the authenticity of a depositor is knowledge that the Fund puts out in the public domain. dpf.or.ug

Is the work of Deposit Protection Fund (DPF) Uganda @DPFUganda about finding reasons not to pay depositors? The asks continue without end and it is tiring? Or it is about conforming that someone had deposits in the bank. Seems some asks are not related with deposit protection.
