Can't be overstated. We've lived years of agricultural prosperity (mostly for us, the consumers) due to advancing technology and yields. Cripple the fertilizer industry, yields fall, and food prices increase after months of oil at or near $100 and what does the econ look like.

Arabica #coffee futures have settled into a USD 2.8–3.0 per pound narrow range, following a decline over the past five months from a multi-year high near USD 4.40. Prices have come under pressure in recent months after the mid-November removal of the additional 40% U.S. tariff on Brazilian coffee, and more recently due to expectations of a substantial recovery in the 2026–27 production outlook, potentially reaching a record if current favourable weather conditions persist.

@vicentezotti It would be a shame if we lost confidence in the futures markets. Same recently happened in silver. Large players can manipulate paper but not physical. Even stocks now being moved by short term options, money flows and algorithms

Sobre o que falei dos futuros estarem em movimentos disfuncionais no curto prazo e que o físico em algum momento trará um nível de ajustes nos futuros, reforço que os diferenciais não estão elevados em patamares historicamente altos apenas no Brasil.

Esse movimento do futuros de café está completamente desconectado do mercado físico quando olhamos o curto prazo, basta ver os diferenciais. Nesse momento tradings perdem dinheiro nas coberturas de posição, produtores perdem na venda e especuladores que estavam comprados perdem.
