“Interact with this tweet” “Use these AI tools or you’re falling behind” “Trying something out, please engage” “Engaging might change your life” “ChatGPT is dead, Bard is king” Retweet groups Engagement groups Botting ENOUGH Engagement farming is killing you These are all destroying your brand All good for a quick dopamine hit, but that’s it Empty calories It’s like saying you’re bulking by eating ice cream sandwiches for every meal It might feel good in the moment. It might get you likes that feel great It’s destroying your brand and credibility. Brands are built on trust. They’re built on intellectual honesty When I beg every 5 seconds for a like without giving you anything in return, I’m telling you you’re nothing to me but a dopamine hit on the timeline I’m telling you I have nothing to offer, but please give me your energy I’m being intellectually dishonest. I’m giving you the hope that there’s actual value I have to provide, but in reality there’s none You give me your energy through this like, I pat you on the head and say good boy. By engagement farming or feigning authority through engagement groups and botting, you only destroy your credibility When you come back at a later point and actually have a true offer for your audience, they’re not going to care They’re not going to look at you as an expert They’re not going to look at you as an authoritative figure You were just that one person that keeps popping up on their timeline with nothing to say And maybe they engaged that one time. But all you are is a fun dopamine swap. I hit like on your tweet you hit like on mine. No real relationship built. No real trust gained. It’s a shortcut to nowhere. “10 AI tools that will 100x your productivity” You probably have seen this pop up on your timeline 1000 times the last few months. Many big AI accounts are tricking you. They’re using retweet groups to get massive engagement. Then other people see this, think it’s working because they have huge numbers, and buy into these engagement groups themself. Now you have a death spiral of AI tool threads littering your timeline Take a closer look at the numbers though These threads will have thousands of likes, thousands of retweets, then only a few comments Those few comments? All from similar AI farming accounts. They’re not actually building any real relationships They’re feigning authority They are getting NOTHING out of those threads If they were to turn around and try to sell a product, NOBODY would buy it as they have built 0 actual trust with their audience DO NOT get jealous when you see these mind numbingly stupid threads succeed on your timeline. They aren't succeeding. They're accomplishing nothing. I get it though. Twitter is tough You tweet multiple times a day every day for years and barely get any followers. 99% of people on this platform experience it. You see some dork with a monochorome profile picture, great haircut, their arms crossed with perfect lighting, and their thread about why Bard has killed ChatGPT has 15,000 likes You think oh cool I can do the same thing You’re not the first to have this thought You put out a hastily made thread on why you’re going to fall behind if you’re not on Bard You hit post and 24 hours later you’re at 3 likes. You fell for the intellectually dishonest engagement farming trap It’s a content ponzi scheme The people making actual quality, value giving AI content are at the top. The engagement farmers paying for retweets are in the middle, and you thinking anyone cares about why Bard is better than ChatGPT is at the bottom There’s only one way to build a platform on social media There’s only one way to gain trust To build a true audience who actually views you as an authoritative figure And that’s through value creation Actually sharing value with your audience Sharing unique points of views, changing the way they think, helping them learn something new Entertaining them Everything else is noise “There are 20 year old kids making $10,000 a month with these no code tools” Noise Just because that entrepreneur account that botted their profile to hell popped up on your timeline does not mean that’s going to work for you. Share true value with your audience Share your story Teach them something And most importantly be authentic. Be yourself. If you screw up this last part, you’re dead in the water There's only one true algorithm hack: sharing actual value with your audience
