3/22 12P: Conditions aren't quite extreme enough to have a Red Flag Warning, but it will still be hot and dry out there today. Take care and prevent any sparks and fires from spreading from 12P-8P today. Report any smoke you may see. Gillespie County is still under a burn ban.
NWS Austin/San Antonio@NWSSanAntonio

Near critical fire weather conditions across the region today due to low humidity and breezy south winds. A Fire Danger Statement is in effect from Noon to 8 PM. Fires can spread easily in these conditions. Take steps to avoid actions that may unintentionally spark a fire. #txwx

Gillespie County has seen several brushfires this year caused by out of control brush pile burning. Safe burning (during safe conditions!) protects landowners and neighbors!

If the burn is able to occur due to safe weather conditions, you may see smoke in the area. Our dispatch and fire departments are aware of the burn, so no need to report this fire to dispatch today.

The burn managers will have private fire protection crews/tools to ensure the burn is contained. Gillespie County is under a burn ban, but the ban contains an exemption for private prescribed burns conducted by a certified/insured burn manager.
