Keeping Americans safe is the FBI’s number one mission. With nearly a dozen U.S. cities hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026, FBI Atlanta has been working closely with city officials and our partners over the past 18 months to ensure every game and every fan is protected throughout the duration of the games in our city. Even our crisis response K9, Taz, has been preparing to do his part.

On May 6, as part of Operation Lockdown, FBI Atlanta’s Violent Crime Task Force arrested Kenneth Jones, who was wanted in connection with a 2025 interstate shooting that injured three people — including a pregnant teenager — and resulted in the death of her unborn child. During the operation, Jones barricaded himself inside a third-story apartment with two toddlers present, creating a dangerous situation for the children, responding agents, and himself. At one point, he also attempted to climb from the rear balcony while refusing commands from law enforcement. Despite the volatility of the situation, teams on scene remained disciplined, patient, and focused on bringing the incident to a safe resolution. Jones was ultimately taken into custody without injury, and the children were safely removed from the residence. In just one month, law enforcement across the country made a powerful impact through Operation Iron Pursuit—identifying more than 200 child victims and arresting over 350 child sex abuse offenders. FBI Atlanta is proud to have played a critical role in this nationwide effort, arresting 12 offenders and helping locate 12 child victims. Each number represents a child who is now safer and an offender who will be held accountable. Case Update: The body of missing truck driver Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez has been recovered in Georgia. #FBI Tampa and Atlanta Field Offices are investigating and continue to ask the public for information to help solve this case.
