Hard Rock Stadium: FBI employees prepare for counter-drone operations prior to a World Cup match last week. Working with local partners, the FBI Miami has seized over 130 drones that violated FAA TFRs over World Cup venues in South Florida. These counter drone teams can detect, track, take control of a drone. Then one of the mobile teams seizes it and contacts the operator. On Tuesday, the City of Homestead Mayor Steven Losner, Police Chief Mario Knapp, and members of the City Council recognized SA Carlos Gibert (center left) along with TFOs David Mata (center) and Howard Diener (center right), for their distinguished law enforcement careers and their contributions to a complex, multi-agency investigation targeting a violent human smuggling organization operating in South Florida. The investigation involved serious criminal activity, including kidnapping, extortion, and the exploitation of vulnerable migrants, and resulted in the disruption of the criminal enterprise and the successful prosecution of multiple defendants. Detective Mata and Detective Diener were also provided FBI Director Certificates by ASAC Clancy recognizing their longstanding service to the Homestead Police Department, including their investigative work, task force assignments, and continued commitment to public safety. Special Agent Gibert was recognized for his 35 years of federal service, including 24 years as an FBI Special Agent, his leadership as the lead case agent in the investigation, and his continued partnership with the Homestead Police Department. Collectively, these proclamations acknowledge the importance of interagency collaboration between local and federal law enforcement agencies in protecting the community and addressing serious criminal activity.
