Suspected Tren de Aragua (TdA) leader Jose Enrique Martinez Flores aka "Chuqui" made his initial appearance in federal court this morning after being extradited to Houston from Colombia. "TdA is a designated foreign terrorist organization and a threat to our national security and our communities," said SAC Jason Hudson. "TdA is a violent transnational organization that originated in Venezuela and has expanded into the U.S., including the streets of Houston. Its criminal activities include drug trafficking, firearms trafficking, commercial sex trafficking, kidnapping, robbery, theft, fraud, extortion, and murder. BREAKING: Suspected Tren de Aragua (TdA) leader has been extradited to the U.S. Jose Enrique Martinez Flores aka "Chuqui", 24, arrived in Houston from Colombia on Thursday. This is the first time a TdA member charged with terrorism-related crimes is extradited to the U.S. "Chuqui", a Venezuelan national, is charged with providing material support to TdA, a designated foreign terrorist organization, and international drug distribution conspiracy. He is scheduled to make his federal court appearance Friday morning.

He was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm- a big no no. Now, Darrell Wayne Collins has been given the maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison for that violation! Another example of how FBI Houston's Safe Streets Task Force, our law enforcement partners, and the U.S. Attorney's office continue to pursue federal charges for repeat violent offenders to protect our communities from firearms violence, drug trafficking, and violent crime.

Nigerian national living in Houston, Edikan Adiakpan, pleads guilty to his role in a business email compromise scam. The last of four alleged members of a Houston area street gang charged with drug trafficking has been arrested. Cleve Marcel King was taken into custody on Monday during a traffic stop in Katy. Christopher Knight Lopez of Katy has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for scamming clients out of some $17 million in a Ponzi scheme. For about ten years, Lopez and his brother Jayson defrauded their clients by providing false information about the companies in which the clients invested. They used forged bank letters and fabricated account statements to mislead investors about the companies’ financial strength. Jayson Lopez will be sentenced Friday: justice.gov/usao-sdtx/pr/k…

COLD CASE UPDATE: FBI Houston is proud to have helped our partners at @MCTXSheriff and @TxDPSsoutheast locate murder suspect Bobby Taylor, Sr. in Mexico and bringing him back to Texas to face justice for the 1986 murder of 16-year-old Deanna Ogg. The FBI is known for its patience and global reach. We hope Taylor's arrest and extradition bring the Ogg family closer to the justice they've been waiting for for 40 years.

#OTD 90 years ago, former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover personally arrested notorious gangster Alvin Karpis, aka "Public Enemy Number One." Karpis was the brains of the Barker/Karpis Gang and remained elusive to law enforcement until April 1936, when word came that "Old Creepy" was in New Orleans. Hoover flew overnight to join the raid team, and they sketched out an arrest plan on a chalkboard. Once in custody, Hoover escorted Karpis to Minnesota to face kidnapping charges. 🟥 BREAKING Two Houston-area men have been sentenced to life in federal prison for their murder-for-hire plot against the wrong man. Michael Seery and Ricardo Obando Jr. shot at the victim several times as he was driving to work along the Grand Parkway on Feb. 4, 2025. Fortunately, the victim survived and turned out to be the pair's wrong target. Both men will now spend the rest of their life in prison. @HCSOTexas
